I went to El Dorado too. Although probably YEARS/DECADES before you did. Placentia was almost a brand new place back then. Glad to see the school is still going strong!!!

Have you joined www.edloradoalumni.com? (broken link) There's plenty of folks from the late 60's to early 90's on there (dunno where you fit in)... I'm basically the youngest on their forums who actually participates--class of 2000 here.

What year did you graduate? Maybe some of your high school friends are active on their forums?

BTW, PYLUSD = a gread school district. ^_^

Thanks for the link. I never thought to check that. I'm class of 78 and I saw a few people I know talking on there, but not many. I still keep in contact with my closest friends and I visited my best friend from high school in Austin in May. Our 30th class reunion is this year so I am going to that. Once you get as old as me, high school just becomes a distant phase of your life and you have a totally new one with new people, kids, a husband, and stuff.

Yeah, I mostly just enjoy the discussions in the forums... it's nice to see that many of the graduates ended up having really great or at least very normal happy lives. ^_^

Their hawk memorial list also alerted me to few of my classmates that had passed that I didn't know about, too... I stop by the forums every so often to see what's interesting.

Nice that you hung around OC... I hope I'm as lucky (and savvy)--it's too expensive on the peanuts I get paid working at UCI.

Thanks for posting--it's nice to see so many of our schools performing well despite being part of the California education system... it's a testament to the determination and dedication of good parents, kids, and communities.

I didn't really plan on staying in the county. My husband and I lived around the country when he was a Marine pilot and then we ended up transfered back to El Toro Marine Base by chance. When he returned to civilian life, we never left the area and started our family here.

I hope you can find your start here in OC. I don't know how you young people do it. My husband and I never would be able to afford the type of home we own today at the prices today when we were a young couple.

Academics....no. of National Merit Finalists and no. of students who will be attending Stanford/Harvard/Wharton/Princeton....

Rest of stats are easily manipulated and meaningless...
The mass numbers are not meaningful either. Even if most of the kids barely graduate, the school can still excel at giving a good education. several of our kids were educated mostly in Santa ana. However they are doing great. The oldest two are both being offered scholarships at several different colleges. One of them can go pretty much anywhere she wants (and can afford). I amnot sure what the best way to evaluate schools is. Going there and talking with parents of the top students is one possibility.
