I respectfully disagree, forcing football into what's a baseball only stadium is never a good idea. I'm glad to hear someone thought it was a good place for football though.

I can't understand why anyone would still cheer for them....
For some it's because they supported the team and not the owner, the team itself had nothing to do with Georgia's decision to move them to St. Louis. I'm glad to see the Rams struggling recently though, only because that front office and Mike Martz totally ruined what could have been one heck of a dynasty. Don't really like the Rams, but did enjoy their success from 99-01, and going back further hoped they would have beat the Steelers when they met in the Super Bowl back in 1980.

Not that it really matters...

I went to the Rams/Titans preseason game weekend before last and saw ALOT of Ram fans wearing L.A. Rams gear.

The Rams future was doomed when they moved to Anaheim. No offense to any O.C. people but it's the truth. The move to Anaheim left Los Angeles and the Coliseum open for the Raiders.

When the Raiders won the Super Bowl in 1983, that's all it took and the Raiders became the big ticket in town.

From 1946-1982 The Rams WERE L.A. Football.

By the time the 90's rolled around, Georgia ran the team into the ground and " went home " too bad really. It's interesting how they went from really bad to really good in a matter of 4 seasons.

Ever seen the movie Major League ? It's similar.

Rooting for the Rams would be like cheering for a girlfriend who cheated on you and then dumped you to run off with some guy who promised to buy her all sorts of stuff.

This is sort of debatable. While the Rams did draw pretty big crowds for big games, the "Mammoth Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum" (and you have to say that with the legendary PA announcer John Ramsey's deep booming, three words-pause-three words-pause voice) was so huge that I don't think I remember one game ever selling out in time to lift the 72 hour TV blackout rule. I think the seating capacity varied over the years from 93000 to over 100000.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen [pause to let the echos fade] welcome to the the (Dodger Stadium, Fabulous Forum, Anaheim Stadium, Los Angeles Memorial Coliesum...he called all the LA sports teams including USC and UCLA) for tonight's game [again pause] between the Boston Bruins [pause] and your Los Angeles Kings[pause]."

"Batting [pause] Number 6 [pause] Steve [pause] Garvey"

"Assist [pause] to number 16 [pause] Marcel [pause] Dionne"

I remember sitting in the stands of the ruined Anaheim Stadium, hungover, Fall 1982, having recently endured the Brewers blowing the Angels out of the playoffs, and thinking, "this sucks". I never forgave the Rams owners for ruining my stadium. When they left Orange County, I was happy to be rid of them. Never cared about the Raiders.

Default I remember the '70's Ram squads..

...very well, even from 3000 miles away here in New England. Good, solid teams (Olsen, Dyer, Youngblood (x 2), Robertson, Bertelsen, McCutcheon, Jackson, Gabriel, etc), very tough defensively and with a superior ground game. However, I was a big Purple Gang fan, and I enjoyed seeing the Vikes win in old, cold Metropolitan Stadium. A long time ago, though, with much water over the bridge...

I'm curious, though, about football weekends in LA. Do USC and UCLA alternate weekends, and do they make up for the abscence of pro football? I always had the impression that SoCal was one area of the US that probably could live without the NFL, due to all the other "distractions" that are available on the Left Coast.

Minnesota Tarkenton, Bud Grant, and Dallas were so frustrating to Rams fans.

There were two Youngbloods on those Rams teams of the 1970s. Interestingly, they were not related.

Before UCLA football moved to the Rose Bowl, both USC and UCLA football played in the Coliseum so I guess they would have alternated. I think the Angels and Dodgers alternated by league plan.

You know, you "former" ramsfans are really something. You proved my point that your town the OC/LA, what ever,... NEVER deserved to have a team. What, you just cheer for them when they win? I bet you were the same people saying, "yeah, bill, I've always been a RAMS fan", when they finally won the Superbowl. I knew I was right all along. Most of You LA/Socal fans are pussies and soft. You were actually never Rams fans to begin with. That's why in a way, I'm GLAD they left your gang infested, porn industry,liberal-leftist, smog, traffic congested town. I hope your town never gets a team. Your probably the same pussies who only cheer for the Lakers when they win....or the Dodgers for that matter. I was also P.O'd when they left, but still supported the team, even through the horrible 90's. Come on LA/OC your better than that. Demonstrate some intestinal fortitude...uh, never mind, I think "you" already know the answer to that one. Have a good life. Losers.
