Hi!

I'm driving down for a few days with a friend of mine and we would like to have lunch at a nice (moderate prices) fish place in Newport Beach. I know L.A. pretty well having lived there for 10 years in the past, but don't know O.C. at all. Can anyone give a good recommendation?

Default seafood

Scott's Seafood on Bristol...right around South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. I haven't been there, just driven by a lot of times...I've heard it's really good.

There's also The Crab Cooker on Newport Blvd (next to Spaghetti Factory). All the food is served on paper plates, but MAN! is it good. And their cheese mashed potatoes are KILLER. Only drawback there is the absence of parking.

Yeah, the Crab Cooker is really good. There's also Joe's Crab Shack on Mariners Mile. Yumm..

I think "reasonable" was in there somewhere too. You can't walk out of Joe's for under $25/person, whereas Crab Cooker meals rarely run above $12, and lunch is cheaper still.

Sorry, I missed that. You can scratch Joe's then.

Damn, I've driven past The Crab Cooker a million times and had no idea! I'm moving to Newport in a few weeks and that will be on top of my list of places to eat asap :-)
