Commute time from Lake Forest to San Clemente
I am not used to commuting south from Lake Forest in the morning rush hour (7am-8am).
What would the commute would be driving to San Clemente in the morning and then driving back up after work? I would be exiting the freeway at the Avenida Pico off ramp.
Thanks for your help!

You'll be going the good direction both ways, as far as the heavy traffic goes. However, I'd get off at Avenida Vista Hermosa, then take that to out to Camino Vera Cruz, then right on that to Pico. That way you'll avoid the high school traffic snarl on Pico in the morning.

I agree with Fontucky. There is no traffic going south on interstate 5 in the morning. You should be able to fly down at 65 mph and take around 30 minutes. Good advice from Fontucky to get off at Hermosa and avoid the construction and traffic at San Clemente High School. I think that route is only faster if you are heading towards inland San Clemente though. If you are going towards the beach, Pico is probably faster to get off at.

Correct on that, missionhome. I assumed the OP was heading to that industrial area off Amanecer, where I used to work. As soon as I posted that, I thought "now that I've given those directions, the OP will turn out to be a brand new teacher at the high school or work somewhere around Pico and PCH".

Thank you Fontucky and Missionhome for your informative replies. I am going to the area off Calle Amanecer, so I will definitely use the quicker route to avoid the traffic around the high school and construction that you provided.
I appreciate your help .

Glad to help! Most people would die to have a commute that is as easy as yours is going to be. Just a nice drive down the 5 at full speed while you watch people stuck in traffic trying to head north through the El Toro Y.
