The problem I have is why do you post on the California forum & keep Irvine CA as your past location? You haven't lived in California for 12 yrs. Spare us your sympathy. Most Californians would think long & hard about moving to a state of unspectacular flatness\ bitter winters & brutal summers\ bugs-mosquito's. I have been in Dallas\ Houston\ San Antonio etc & Sacramento\ Stockton\ Fresno come to mind except with more people\ more Baptists\ more Republicans. I don't dislike Texas & enjoy San Antonio but it is not a vacation destination for good reason.

I wonder how many ex-Texans living in California post anti-Texas sentiments on your state's forum? what's wrong with this picture?

I actually agree with this, although prison spending has really bled the state dry financially. No other state increased its prison population as much as CA did over the last quarter century.

Well do you want worthless people out there harming you and your family or do you want to pay to lock them up? You can't have it both ways.

Unless you hoped to trick people the same way that bird-cage-liner of a newspaper you quoted tried to do. And just like I said: no remorse, no sorries, no shame.

I'll be interested in CA so long as I have property there and so long as I still have that one employee who lives there. Tried to get him to move, but he's 82 and is going to stick it out. The rest of us moved out - driven out in part by loonies who live in a dream, non-factual world.
You, sir, have some serious issues... a persecution complex maybe?
When a state is spending more on incarceration than higher education, that is a sad, sad state of affairs.

So she was mistaken, and she admitted it. For you to then try to rub her nose on the carpet in the hopes that it would somehow tarnish us gol'darned libburrals, keep dreaming. Instead you display how out of touch you are with reality, and just how mean-spirited you are in general.

But I bet that makes you proud. Keep up the good work carrying that tattered Republican banner... it's about to become a relic of a bygone era.

Considering more people are locked up for non-violent offenses than are for violent ones, how wisely is this money being spent?

Isn't there a better way to address non-violent offenses than locking people up and throwing away the key? Since the California prison population continues to be overcrowded, it appears that the current system is broken... how do we fix it?

The state is not spending more on prisons than higher education. Didn't you guys read the article? The lying liberal, rag tried to twist the numbers by saying if the growth in prison spending continues CA will then spend more on prisons at some time in the future. Sort of like Al Gore saying if the higher temperatures continue we will have global warming. Except that the prison spending has more of a chance of happening.

She said that the prison spending was the largest item in the budget. The "budget buster". What a crock. And now you guys come on here and try to switch the topic over to a debate about prison spending. Her "admission" as you call it was just her saying it's no big deal when people give out erroneous info. We'll see if she has more to say.

It has been said that conservatives spend their time worrying that people won't understand what they want to do. And libs spend their time worying that people will understand what they want to do. You guys prove that saying to be correct. Why can't libs just be honest?

As I recall, the federal courts are trying to get another 8 billion for the prison budget as we speak (for overcrowding, etc.) so ... yeah, it was my impression that it's busting the budget combined with the 9 percent annual increase which, from what I understood, is more than any other department.

So I made a mistake and should have been more specific. Again, this was all over radio and the news during the past year ... it was a huge public debate and I didn't remember all of the details completely. Why you have to make a federal case out of it is beyond me but, if this the only way you can make yourself feel better ... go ahead.

It is rather absurd that these arguments usually come from ex-Californians. I used to live in Texas but I really don't care enough to constantly bash their state in their forum ... even though there's plenty to bash them on.

Contrary to what they might say ... I think these ex-Californians are pretty miserable in their new locations. If they were really happy where they are ... they wouldn't care about this place at all.

I think more than anything else .... they're trying to talk themselves into believing that they made the right move when, in fact, they're having serious doubts about it.

As Shakespeare put it: "Thou doth protest too much!"

No I've just had it with the dishonesty that permeates our society. Search my previous posts. If I've ever presented a falsehood I'm ready to take my medicine. Others should be so forthright. Especially lib politicans from CA.

And I still haven't heard "I was wrong", "Should have been more careful and seen obvious falsehood by the newspaper", "I will check the information more carefully in the future", etc. Instead I get why don't you just scram off this site.
