Good four or five hour soaking rain here in south OC. Not good for those hillsides that burned, but we surely needed the water. I can't remember the last time it rained for more than two minutes or so. Now everything will turn green...that's nice to see this time of year.

I moved back to Orange County in late 2004 after living in Colorado for three years. I remember that first February we were back (2005), it rained almost every day for the whole month. That was pretty cool. The hills off Sand Canyon always look so nice and green after a good rain and some sunshine.

For those of you that hate the weather, try moving over here to the east Coast. the snow/rain shuts down our rush hour, I hate shoveling, and I slide down our driveway because of the ice in the mornings. it is miserable. I'd love to see the sun now, and not have the winter sun. It's hardly bright, and mostly followed by grey clouds, followed by snow and rain... I agree with the other posters I'd rather be able to leave the sucky weather when it gets old

Great storm last night w/ plenty of rainfall for bone-dry California. More rain today before the system moves east & another 'santa ana' sets up! Where there any mudslides?

Yep, those winds seem to hit every year right before Christmas. A neighbor of the house where I grew up set up elaborate lawn decorations every year, and every year, they'd get knocked over and blown down the street.

The winds make for beautiful Christmas weather, though. Everything so sunny and shiny. I don't ever remember a gloomy Christmas in Orange County.

I remember that too. It rained so much in Southern California that the reservoir above Silver Lake was about to burst open.

I think 1994-1995 was the all time record? We were heading back to Moorpark from a computer lab at UCSB around midnight and the PCH was starting to flood. One of my lab partners left about 15 minutes after I did. He had to turn around and get back to Ventura County via Interstate 5. Poor guy.

In March 1983 (I think) or so the storms took out 400 feet of the Santa Monica Pier?

Yeah that was a bad year for piers. I think Huntington Beach lost theirs too or at least suffered major damage.
