So sorry to hear you say that. Millions will be affected and if YOU were one of those, YOU would care.
We certainly have more important issues in society. So WHY doesn't society just err on the side of fairness and move on to other issues that are more important like a cure for cancer, fixing national health care, or eliminating child abuse?

This is a question the OP didn't really want an answer to.

But you are right about CA granting near identical rights as those of married heterosexuals. It's a great state law. But having a civil partnership in CA won't help you in most other other states. So we should be sequestered for the rest of our lives in CA in order to have the rights the rest of you have? Maybe we wanna go to Vegas for the weekend!

That's not a California problem, and Prop 8 does nothing to change that(no matter which way it went)

I am of the thought that everything should be considered a civil union by the law. Then the church can have a marriage ceremony or what have you. The word "marriage" has a definition, and we shouldn't go changing definitions to words to suit our fancy. It has a religious connotation, too. While I do not believe in gay marriage, I do not believe the government can limit it. The arguments against it are almost always religious. So, everything is a civil union. It can go from there.

So I'm still confused. Because of that you voted for Proposition 8?

This is a stupid subject for a relocation forum. Where is the moderator? Out to lunch?
