Hmmm. I was in Hermosa this afternoon and it was pouring ash there. And here by USC. I've experienced this in Denver a few times in the past but today was my first taste of California fires.

I have always wondered whythere isn't some type of water tower or fire sprinker system that can prevent people's homes from burning down in those high risk fire zones.

Smoke has made it into the Pasadena area [probably from Corona\Brea fires]. This is going to be a bad night for LA!

Former 15 year YL resident, moved to Charlotte, NC 2 years ago. I am praying one of my friends has not lost her home in the Hidden Hills section. Others throughout YL have packed items just in case. We are watching the live feed on the net. On OC Register it said Thomasville in Savi Ranch was on fire. My friend said Canyon Honda on YL Blvd at Weir had fire damage. John Force's shop is also located in Savi Ranch. As Donn said thoughts and prayers to everyone.

I took some pictures of the smoke clouds today from an overpass in Costa Mesa.

The first picture is looking southwest to north. The Yorba Linda/Brea fires are over the horizon at the extreme right edge of the photo.

Here's the crazy part: The picture below actually goes with the one above. Its left edge matches up with the first picture's right edge. But due to the wind direction, you'd have no idea there was a fire burning from looking at it.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all. This weekend has sucked so far

My parents are on the Placentia/Yorba Linda border and are packed up and ready to leave if they need to. One of my dearest friends also had to evacuate her family from their home in Anaheim Hills. This is not fun. Again, best of luck and lets hope these winds end.

I am in Yorba Linda, 2 blocks from the Richard Nixon Library. It's been pretty bad all day today. I can't even go outside because the air is not breathable. Inside my house the smell is almost as bad as outside. We have packed bags with clothes and other essentials in case we have to leave. I don't think I will be going to sleep tonight.
