I hope you find whatever it is you are yearning for somewhere else. I don't think one can do better than being here.

Actually I do judge some people by what they drive. I drive a 1998 F-150, with 160K miles on it. I expect to get to 200K maybe 300K.

When I see someone driving an 1987 Toyota truck I get envious. Here's a guy who is more frugal (cheaper) than I am.
"Most of the millionaire households that [the authors] profiled did not have the extravagant lifestyles that most people would assume. This finding is backed up by surveys indicating how little these millionaire households have spent on such things as cars, watches, suits, and other luxury products/services. Most importantly, the book gives a list of reasons for why these people managed to accumulate so much wealth (the top one being that "They live below their means"). The authors make a distinction between the 'Balance Sheet Affluent' (those with actual wealth, or high net-worth) and the 'Income Affluent' (those with a high income, but little actual wealth, or low net-worth)."

Have you started replacing the coils yet? What a pain

For years I did my own tuneups on my 87 Toyota truck (22R engine), wires, plugs, rotor, etc. Easy 45 minute job. Got 216K out of that truck.

It took my almost 45 minutes just to find the plugs on my F-150 (Triton V-8). Fortunately, you don't have to tune up F-150s as often, like maybe every 100K miles. I've been good to it and it's been good to me.

You have to eventually begin replacing the coils. There is on for each cyllinder. The dealership will charge over $100 each. You can do it for aroubd $40

Sorry to drift off topic

Ford really has underperformed on those coils. My Mazda MVP (built by Ford) had to have all 6 replaced at just over 40,000 miles. What a pain!

Overly simplistic to categorize any vast urban or suburban region as a monolith...

Would argue ability of local economy to generate new wealth in form of valuable cos. in competitive industries; academic achievements of kids in local schools; and ability to continually attract&retain smart people from all over world really define an area's QOL

Irvine is most comparable to Plano, TX; Naperville, IL; and Scarsdale, NY...each some of most compelling suburbs for upwardly mobile families

IMO, OC's biggest issues are that it has a lackluster economy that struggles to attract many smart people, aside from a few random tech cos. w/smart engineers and PIMCO in NwptBch, which has a few smart financial guys...but OC has a lot of not-very-smart people who aren't wealthy trying to pretend they are wealthy....can be annoying (if have to live amongst them), but quite amusing to witness if briefly visiting area for a business mtg

Ahh thank you. I was looking for Best Places to raise a family. Those lists are different from best places to live. Funny #4 best place to live does not even make the lists for best places to raise a family.
