They drive fast, cut lanes, etc.

In the Inland Empire, I've encountered jerks driving these huge 4x4 pick up trucks who tailgate you thinking they are tough and own the road.

Then in LA. it is a mix of both the Inland Empire and rich OC type, but on top of that you have those speed racer types who drive these lower modified cars.

The point is: there are jerk drivers all over Southern California.
wow so true!

The worst drivers, in my opinion, are in Riverside County. And that has been true for at least 25 years (I lived in Corona for a few years). They drive like they're all on meth.

I would agree that the traffic in Orange County is bad. I never thought that ill of the drivers there compared Riverside or L.A., but judging by the comments of my mom when she was down there a few months ago, people have indeed started driving crazier in Orange County. I guess all that traffic stacking up on the 55 going northbound, the 405-5 junction and the 91 is making people nuts. Even back in the 90's, the 91 coming from Long Beach was just nightmarishly horrendous. If I had to drive that every day I would have gone fruit loops, too.

Dude, OC drivers aren't always the best but try coming to Atlanta... at least in Southern California there is "order" on the roads. Yes you have to be aggressive but everyone seems to respect the rules. In Atlanta (and Nashville) pretty much everyone does whatever they want whenever they want. You'll have a guy driving 90 and a guy doing 45 on the same highways. And don't get me started on tailgaiting... I would take Southern California drivers any day compared to this!

Arizona worse by far. Nobody takes control of the intersection when making a left turn. Maybe one car will "chance it" and go beyond the white line so it can take you two, three cycles to make a turn on a light that in OC would take 1. If someone signals for a turn it's a sign that they're from out of state. We have speed cameras so people will go flying down the freeway then jam on their breakes when they see a camera. Snowbirds - enough said. Nobody even knows what a blind spot is, much less checks it when they change lanes. Cars with trailers in the far left lane on the freeway. People drive around "Do Not Enter" signs to strand themselves in an obviously flooded road. Turning right from any lane is common place.

Have lived here almost three years and am still scared silly at times.

ITA that SoCal drivers are out of control. I just moved here from Boston and back East, Bostonians are considering HORRIFIC drivers...driving too fast, allot of road rage, fighting over parking spaces etc. I thought coming here I would LEAVE ALL THAT BUSINESS EAST..........ummm, NOPE!!! Welcome to EASTERN driving in the WESTERN part of the country.

BUT in exchange I will take THIS weather ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, MONTH, YEAR over our horrific East Coast Nor'Easter's.

LA: You got wanna-be "Sureno" (well actually he probably is a Sureno..lol) in a big a$$ Suburban with 24" grill..on your butt.

OC: You got a the wanna-be Travis Barker with the flat bill New Era lid in his uber-lifted F250 with a big-a$$ FORUM or Stars and Straps sticker on the windshiel..on your butt.

Lexus seems to have effectively marketed to jerks on the road...it is kinda a nice thing! Now whenever I see the loser "L" on the forehead of the car behind me, I just know to let them go ahead and ruin someone else's day! :-)

A recent license plate frame summed it up appropriately ...

If you are going to ride my ass
pull my hair!

So Cal drivers are self absorbed loosers. They are inconsiderate and think they are the only ones that matter.

This is so true about the Nashville drivers. They have their own rules....NONE. I don't believe anyone here took a drivers test. Now I know why our Veh. Ins went up when we moved here from California. I'll take California drivers any day also.
