I've seen it in Denver, Buffalo, Nashville, Columbus, Huntsville, DC, the Bay Area, Houston, etc. There are some studies that have shown that so and so city's drivers are the rudest, but the difference in rudeness between the most rude and the least rude is practically in the noise.

Well you haven't been to Oregon or Washington then. Except for maybe Seattle in rush hour traffic, most highways and streets in both States have very mellow drivers and they are polite as well. Where I live which is in a major college area with young drivers I am amazed at the patience and pace at which everyone drives. You don't get flipped off or run off the road. Actually it was weird, when I moved from OC to Oregon it actually seemed like everything was in slow motion. I could tell the difference of the pace of life very much. My stress level has slowed down and I actually enjoy going places. OC is just the pits when it comes to traffic problems and rude drivers. I can't even count the times I was flipped off when driving the speed limit. And the accidents that my husband was involved in was unbelievable. He hasn't had one collision since we left. I am soooo glad to be out of the rat-race...

Default Drivers- BAD?

1) Constantly tailgating. If I slam on my brakes, how the hell do they think they are going to stop in time?

2) Not using indicator. If you don't tell me your getting over, how the hell am I suppose to slow down and let you in?

3) Always going 5-10 miles above the speed limit. If the speed limit is 40, just do 40. You don't need to do 45 or 50, okay? Same story for the freeway, the speed limit is 65, don't do 70-80+ MPH. If traffic is heavy, reduce speed.

4) Always in a rush. If you need to be on time, please leave early. For christ sakes, I am tired of walking some place and the guy making a right turn cuts me off as I get the white ,"walk" symbol. I've seen numerous times where another car has almost hit a pedestrian (they don't look) by trying to cut the red light before it turns green. Let me tell you, it definitely sends chills down your spine watching a kid cross the street and the other cars not wanting to wait.

I've always wondered why some streetlights have crossing guards even thought there is a signal. Now I know why. PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO WAIT! I am sure some kid had to die before they actually put those crossing guards there too.

Anyone had any similar pet peeves? or experiences?
Welcome to the Planet Earth... It is especially common when there are so many Earthlings going the same direction. Every city in the WORLD has this problem. There are careless people everywhere. Only until they receive the fruits of their carelessness will they learn and maybe not even then.

But in a highly populated location as OC the traffic is worse. Come on...where I live in Washington State I NEVER sit in bumper to bumper traffic and the drivers are VERY polite. Have you ever been anywhere else? You are making generalized comments saying EVERY CITY... Just not true. Sorry I disagree and have lived in almost 40 cities in the United States and 4-states now. California drivers are the rudest. Yes.. there are other cities that have bad traffic problems and rude drivers but there are plenty of cities that don't.
