Default The policeman was only doing his job

It amazes me how self righteous alot of people can be when they are breaking the law. From over tinting the car windows, to running stop signs or breaking the leash law by letting their dogs run wild at a park or playground. What examples are these parents teaching their children? That it's OK to break the law, if you can get away with it?
So many Irvine residents pride themselves in having the safest and most crime free city in the country. Yet so many of them won't abide by the law. And for you people who think that the police have such an easy job in Irvine and not much to do, you've really got your head hidden in the sand canyons of your mind. How would it make your day if you had to pull somebodies smashed and bloodied mangled body out of a car wreck, caused by someone who felt like running a stop sign?

Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time.

Don't worry about others. Just because they get away with breaking the law doesn't mean you can do it.

I got a speeding ticket once and I told the cop that everyone was going 80. He said, "Yep, but I pulled you over, and after I let you go, I'll pull over someone else." and he did.

They are bored and the only way they get their income is to write tickets for any and everything. If you need 1 cop, 5 cars show up...it is ridiculous. And yes, they actually show up to court...unlike anywhere else in the county who are too busy. Ya gotta realize most these Irvine cops don't live in Irvine and instead enjoy pissing off the affluent who are there.

Default The Irvine Police Department is the best

There are plenty of safe, higher income cities in the United States. Irvine is the safest for its size. What separates Irvine from the rest of them and keeps us at the top of the list year after year, is our great Police Department. For all those out there who complain that the IPD has too much time on their hands, how could they with all the budget cuts?
The IPD does't hand out trivial tickets. In reality, it's that they are conscientious. They are just tightening up the loose ends. They run a tight ship, that's a big reason we're so safe here in Irvine. Hey, just be honest people. Don't break the law. It looks so silly for those people who complain about getting tickets and blame the police. He/she was just doing their job, and I thank them. You should too.

Coyote, good reply. I agree with most/all of your points.

But sometimes if you make a mistake and break the law, the cops don't have to treat you as rudely as they do. I think that irks a lot of people in Irvine - hence, the general dislike of Irvine cops. Then again, I don't know if they were going 100 mph on a 55 mph or whatever, but that's that's general gist I get from the student population.

You also have more privacy with tinted windows... For women especially since we are always getting checked out at red lights by perverts and such. I DON'T HAVE tinted windows because it is illegal but if it WERE legal I would get mine tinted right away.

You would be surprised how much an attractive woman gets stared at when driving and such...

actually pulling someone over because of their race is racial profiling. You start your rant by saying that you know irvine is safe. You ask don't they have something better to do. You've kind of answered your own question, whatever they are doing they are meeting their primary responsiblity...to keep it safe.

Ballsy of you to wait till the cop was gone to say f u. I have been on ride alongs about 5 times with several officers from other departments. I have seen stopping people for little petty violations nab drug dealers, gangsters with illegal guns, drunks.... I have heard stories of better busts.

You did not get a beat down ala Rodney King, You are not persecuted like the Jews in Nazi Germany. You got a ticket for something you did! No one planted the tint on your car. You knew it was a no no and did it anyway. I would suggest that you quit being such a victim and a whiny baby but I suspect your perspective doesn't allow you to see this too objectively.

Well, there's only 13 people on the Irvine sex offenders list. I don't think you really have to worry about the prying eyes of other motorists here, unless they start foaming at the mouth.
