I think you need to open another thread for this because this thread we were taking about GANGS. Now you bringing up another point on crime levels is another topic in itself. Why you brought it up I have no idea but if we are going to talk about what blacks do in general (Note I said in general) and what does other races do we have a lot to talk about. This is not a breaking down conversation on who do what because if it was we all will be knocking on the devil door!!!!!
Note. I know that it's works somewhat hand in hand gangs and crime but I am curious to know where did you do your research?
Note: The strongest correlation to be found on HORRIFIC crimes are the Ku Klux Klan, Mason crime, The son of Sam, Jeffrey Dahmer I can go on.

I find this thread really interesting. I have lived in the south bay my whole life, and there has not been a problem with gangs here. Some parts of los angeles do have gangs, and some parts of Orange County have gangs. True there are worse neighborhoods in los angeles, but believe it or not, there are better areas of LA like brentwood, bel aire, malibu, beverly hills and other LA areas that are better then OC. So every place has its good places and its bad. But honestly, there are going to be gangs almost in any metro area. Its almost impossible, except in the boonies, to escape them.

There are gangs in San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana, and many more I am sure. They are here but I have never once felt unsafe in south Orange County. North or central OC are safe too, but they just have a somewhat "grittier" feel. Although gritty does add character

To everyone who is ignorant about OC, it is not as bad as LA but there are still MANY gangs here. San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano are a joke they somehow got gang injuctions on some TINY neighborhood gangs but Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove (excluding the secluded Westside), parts of Stanton and Buena Park and Westminster and Fullerton are filled with gangs. Go into a neighborhood in Santa Ana, like the Santa Nita hood, and come away thinking there is not a gang problem is crazy. Orange County is full of sureno gangs, some asian gangs, and i have only heard of one black gang. There are also some Samoan gangstas (at least in my hood ES GG), but they are from sets from elsewhere (WS Piru, PV Compton Crip) and while they rep it they don't get territorial and are peaceful for the most part. White gangs? Don't know don't live in those parts. Gangs in Irvine? Smh two kids who got a spray can and wrote crip on one wall LOL there are plenty of real gangs in OC though. Whole neighborhoods where bangin is the norm and culture and you really can't escape it.

Only area where feel unsafe and more likely control by gangs would think would be santa ana and other areas outside might have some problems in certain neighborhoods or blocks but really only place that might have gang problems would be santa ana and certain areas around the city. There are gangs almost everywhere.

Yep this is true.. For the most part you can thank the television and gangsta rap that is preformed by fake thug entertainers who sell the street life that they never lived to make a buck and to make crime popular. Pretty much all the real thug's who could have made it out selling records you have never heard of them because they are deceased.
Sff, like another poster has said, this does make a interesting conversation because I always think about would gangs even exist if blacks were just excepted and able to live without being bothered from day one.
More or less the blacks that migrated to California in the 20's-1940s were running from the south and from Jim Crow laws only to be targeting by groups of Caucasian males when they got to L.A so they had no choice but to form gangs, but in those days they were good gangs just to protect themselves and there neighborhoods. One of there groups was called "The Business Men" and the another called the "US organization" that I know off the top of my head; these black men would even go as far as create soup kitchens to feed the poor of there own community.
Jumping ahead, the black gangs turned toward each other and this was facilitated as the factory jobs left, drugs were introduced and the Caucasians were replaced with the influx of Mexicans who did not side with the blacks either.
At the end of the day, all this hate and madness still goes on because the prison system keeps it alive and the powers that be want it that way. Gangs, arresting people, drug sales, all the way to the building of prisons is all one big business. All these gangsters are nothing more then pawns in a large chess game; and people buy homes, property and send there kids to private school off of the bad decisions of these guys make in the streets. It's just sad.

I agree... From what I heard, the latino gangs run pretty rampant in Santa Ana and sections of Anaheim. There was even a gang incident that was reported in the LA Times that occured at Magnolia High School in Anaheim where two students got injured. Your best bet is to contact the local PD's to find out about crime stats, etc.

Orange County definitely has its gangs. I grew up in Garden Grove, but I lived in a nice pocket in central Garden Grove. GGHS had a gang shooting my sister's freshman year. It was at an after school event. Shoot, I went to Santiago my freshman year. We had so many problems it isn't even funny. We moved to some apartments a few streets away from where I had previously lived, and there was a shooting. Someone tried to shoot a cop right outside of my apartment. I'm not sure if it was gang related, though. I remember when I was in junior high there were a lot of stabbings with the Asian gangs. Then there are the skinheads. Yes, there are skinheads even in Garden Grove. I knew many of them. However, usually you will be fine as long as you aren't a cop or gang member. I also knew many cops, so we knew about the gangs. Is it as bad as LA? No.
