Correction, Newport Beach voted Democrat in ONE election for ONE candidate. Republicans still outnumber Dem's 4 to 1 in the city based on the Counties registered voter data (73% of those who identified a party are registered Republican in NB, 26% Dem).

One election does not dictate a "trend" in a county. Based on registration and all the other elections BESIDES the presidential, OC is still very republican. Just look at the congress races and state senate races; all Republicans that had seats won by comfortable margins.

Remember, Massachusettes voted for Reagan in 80 and 84...and they are still liberal.

You need to go back to politics 101 and learn that ONE election following a highly unpopular president does not indicate a shift in the political opinions of the populace. And, by the way, there are ONLY 4 cities of 34 in the county that have a Democratic majority. Only 2 cities (Santa Ana and Stanton, the true gems of our county) have a Democratic majority of more than 5%.

And please stop trolling these threads. You are really making your cause look incredibly foolish (as usual). You can take your political rants to the Politics forum or...the Huffington Post message boards.

You can try to spin the issue all you want w/ false registration data but the reality is that California is a BLUE state that is getting BLUER not red. All counties in Southern California voted Democratic except Orange county but even Orange county moved toward the Democratic party like never before w/ more people registering & voting Democratic than Republican. Only the rural farm counties vote Republican & why the GOP is so weak & ineffective. Face the facts & stop trying to alter reality with nonsense.

You're correct. The GOP as currently constituted will never vote for a non-white candidate, even if that candidate is more conservative than Adolf Hitler. What matters to them is color of skin, not ideology.

Why do politics make otherwise rational people suddenly turn stupid and make absurd illogical statements? I wonder if they ahve ever studied what it is about politics that makes people say such absurd things. Anyone know?

Default Election

I happen to reside in the district under discussion, the 47th,and most surely will be voting for Mr. Tran come election time.On another issue that has been discussed elsewhere, recently Michael Steele, former Lt. Governor of Maryland, became chairman of the Republican National Committee.Mr. Steele just happens to be black, not that anyone of importance or with any sense cares one way or another.

Orange Counties sole democrat (Loretta) is being investigated by the ethics panel along with her adorable sister, Linda for corruption. Who would have ever thought...but then again I think most of us knew that Loretta was one big scam from the day she was elected by the illegal alien population.

Scum of OC politics.

Ethics panel investigates Loretta and Linda Sanchez - Total Buzz - OCRegister.com

Hopefully Van Tran will beat out this corrupt politician and purify our county once again.
