Default OC Political Question

I was wondering what kind of republicans dominate the politics in OC

Is it the moderate Nixon/Eisenhower/Ford republicans (primarily fiscal) or the harder Barry Goldwater/Gingrich/Bush type republicans (quite hard on fiscal and social)

Nixon/Reagan.

Both lived in the county at some point.

There is a huge "Reagan" respect thing here in OC.

I would say many OC Republicans are fiscally conservative, but both our Republicans and Democrats trend socially conservative. Latino's in OC (Democrats) tend to be anti-abortion and socially conservative. Having lived in a "true" socially conservative place in the past, I would say OC leans a little liberal on social issues. It might stem from our tremendous racial/cultural diversity that exists in almost every corner of the county.

not sure Bush would fit into the same catagory with Gingrich and Goldwater. You left out Reagan...

Bush lovers when he was popular. Now that everyone knows what an idiot he is, they're Reagan supporters.

Definitely not just fiscal. This is a socially conservative area to be sure.

Not sayin' they weren't. But they were ALSO Bush supporters. Now, they're avoiding him with a 10-foot pole.

Most of the social conservatives live south of Santa Ana. The northern part of the county is a little more moderate.

Most of the beach communities are liberal, but that's almost everywhere in California.

I'd say this is pretty accurate. Exceptions being Newport Coast, Corona del Mar, Dana Point and parts of Laguna coast (south).

If this is untrue, explain all the Bush/Cheney stickers still on cars in OC.
