IF? Just because more blacks, hispanics, asians or any other race moved in doesn't mean it would equat to more gangs. Stop watching tv. You have your select number of people that are associated with gangs, but just because some or a few blacks move to your area doesn't mean there will be more gangs. If they turn out that they are descent citizens..they are gang members also?

Now its ok the judge the entire race? If you didn't mean that then state that. It's amazing how "some" people can make ignorant comments and think the whole race is like that.

When I was younger much of my life centered in Oange County although I live in Hawaiian Gardens next door(so to speak) in LA County. I attended church in Anaheim from 1979 to 1991 My brother, sister and I were the only black kids there when the Sunday school bus picked us up. My high school Artesia played against schools in Orange County in Pre-season sports and Marching Band Field Show competitions and saw very few blacks.

From 1988-1995 I attended California State University, Fullerton that's where I discovered there were quite a few blacks on Campus during my years we had two black presidents Jewel Plummer Cobb and Milton Gordon who succeeded her. While working at the old Broadway Department store at the Mall of Orange I was the only one.

Today, there more blacks in Orange County than when I first started attending church; which is good. Many are employed from entry level to Upper Management. Many live through out the county although most concentrate in North County communities: Fullerton, Anaheim, Buena Park, Orange just to name a few. Back then many blacks bypassed Orange County in favor of San Bernadino and Riverside Counties because it was more affordable and still are.

We had friends who were in the Marines and they came to visit. They brought one of their buddies along and he happened to be black. He was a very nice guy and even brought an Easter gift for my baby. We were later asked/told to leave because we broke the rules. He was in the Marines to fight for our country - I just did not understand the whole thing. We also had another friend who was black and in the Marines. But come to think of it - I don't remember very many back then. I didn't think of them any different than they were many miles away from home and didn't have a family there to celebrate holidays with so we included them. They were friends of my friends so they were welcome.

Yea this happened to my grandpa; (rip) he was in the Air force around this time and it just so happens that my mom was born on Edwards Air force base; anyhow he told me that with his uniform ON he still had to go through the back door in restaurants. One particular time he needed milk for my moms bottle and with his uniform ON they still made him go to the back. He told me that's when he decided to get out of the service!

No, I have not seen a lot of blacks residing in OC. If I did happen to see a black person they were transient laborers, collage students or the ones who come out the Watts, CPT once a year to see the beach/nice part of town.

Truth be told, I'm black and this use to bother me as I use to feel alone when I lived in OC because there was no culture that I could identify with. I ran a mobile business so I was able to make a living and meet lots of people but at the end of the day there were no safe, clean, community's where I felt as if I part of the community or where I felt a sense of mutual respect from neighbors so this is one of the reasons why I left California.

Anyhow, like another poster said people in California self segregate themselves in addition to the fact that is a transient state so it's just really hard to find any community's where you feel comfortable laying down your roots. sff, 20 years from now Cali will pretty much be Mexico except for the super rich areas; just look at the birth rates compared to the amount of Amercians who are leaving.

Two things for us all to remember:
1.CA used to be Mexico.
2.We all came from another country at some point (unless we are Native American).

Let us please not judge people who want to be in this country...we all have the ability to go back to our initial roots and live in a place where we all look the same. I could go to Germany or England or where ever in Europe or I can stay here in the good ol USA.

Otherwise we can be happy that our ancesters got here whichever way they did, and had it easy or faught like hell, to give us a decent future. Lets hope our kids all get along and teach their kids to get along. Lets hope that in another 20 years no one will care who lives where because we will all just live together.

Sorry...tough day and hoping for world peace and no lines.

are you lame?
i didnt say that when blacks move to OC they'll start more gangs. im saying that it will cause more problems like racial assaults, racial killings, racial everything etc. we have alot of surenos running around killing eachother imagine if we had a huge black population?? imagine then. especially in ANAHEIM or SA. its not allowed

* and i believe there is one blac gang in anaheim. off beach and lincoln but the FOLKS (hispanic gang) from Anaheim ran them off that turf a long time ago.*
