Moving to Corona from the OC
Is there anyone taking advantage of the great housing prices in Corona? I have heard of several families planning to make the move. Just curious?

Lots of people are buying since the crash but do you really want to try to catch a falling knife and how much of your life do you want to spend on the 91?

Um, I've live in Riverside County for many years before moving to OC. The prices are much cheaper heading east, but your quality of life will go WAY down. Traffic, smog, thugs, and 100 degree weather. You'll hate it. I would recommend relocating out of state.

Friend of mine is a non-homeowner who lives in Ontario(and works there). He's taking advantage of the situation by buying in Victorville.

How are you Escape. Things are going really good for us out here in Denver. We are purchasing a home and will close on April 3rd. There is still plenty of room for you and I think home prices are going to remain steady out here. You've got plenty of time.

Congrats on the house. We're still planning on moving out there but we're probably going to have to wait out the recession here where we still have jobs, then move when the job market is better. Hopefully, we'll be in a good position to buy when that happens.

Do not go any farther than Yorba Linda or Anaheim Hills, that is where you draw the line. I had a friend who lived just off Greenriver and after a couple of years they couldn't take it anymore and sold their home. It is a horrible, miserable drive. We ate at El Torito off of Weir Canyon every Friday night for years, we would get to the restaurant about 6:30 to 7:00 PM and leave around 8 to 9 PM and the traffic hadn't changed, bumper to bumper. I lived in Yorba Linda for 15 years and thanked God every day that we decided not to buy in Corona. Also, don't count on the Fast Track.
My suggestion would be to test out the drive and see if that is really what you want to do. Do it on a regular week night and a Friday night just to get a feel for it. Every once in a while you'll sail though, unfortunately it's few and far between.

second the above. I lived off green river for about two years after moving from yorba linda at wei canyon. That simple couple miles added at least 30 mins a day. Oh and this was 10 years ago and i wasnt "IN" corona like down by 15 and 91 or beyond...

My wife and I have considered Sierra del Orro, which is the Green River Road area that nascarnancy mentioned. The houses were very nice. For the mid-high 300's we were seeing 2000 - 2500 sq foot homes. We just couldn't get past the thought of the communte. The 91 freeway gets so bad that it backs up the 241 toll road that comes into it. Then you're stuck on the 91 for 20-45 minutes just to get 3 miles to the green river exit. I've heard that in the mornings, even getting to the 91 from green river is a nightmare.
We still have Corona (Sierra del Orro, specifically) on our list of potential places to live, but it is more of a last resort than a first choice.
