Lightbulb Moving to California and would love some advice!

Hi there, I'm currently in England and am going through the process of applying to emigrate to the US. We've decided on California but haven't narrowed down our search much yet.

Obviously my Visa will depend on a job offer (I'm applying for teaching posts now) but I need to narrow down my search areas - Pasadena and Corona both appeal to me and have a good range of education establishments between them.

I'm really keen on being able to reach the coast within an hour or two and love city life but also love agriculture... having culture and agriculture is essential as I teach RE but also some and ecology.

It's really hard planning the move through maps and brochures so any tips would be appreciated.

UC Riverside and Cal Poly Pomona I believe have agricultural programs at their universities, so perhaps those areas might be a start--their local community colleges and maybe even their K-12 schools might have programs, too. I'm not totally sure as I'm not exactly well-versed on or local agriculture--I've only been on a real farm once, but hopefully that helps. >_<

Thanks so much for replying - I know my post was a bit vague! I'll check out the colleges in those areas... cheers!

Also look into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Good ag program, close to the beach, great area in which to live.
