It is rather funny that you can be driving down the street and sometimes it feels like you are entering a whole different country. I was driving home from my new job (Tustin going to Garden Grove). I start off in Tustin with nice gated communities and nicely designed commercial buildings. After a little while I go under the freeway and it seems like I went through a time warp or something. As I drive along the business signs are no longer in English and instead are in Spanish. You have all the aspects of being in a 3rd world country. Lots more people walking on the side, the typical drunks with cowboy hats standing in front of the local bar etc. Shortly after passing through the commercial area I enter into the residential area. I drive past homes with bars on the windows, lots of cars parked on the street (bumper to bumper), people chilling in front of their houses, people working on their cars in the drive way and even (get this) a for sale sign with graffiti on it! After a while it slowly fades away and it feels like I went back into the same country I came from.

Only in Orange Country.......

It wasnt like this 10yrs ago ,we bought our house in LB 7yrs ago ,and if the prices were like today we wouldn't afford it anywhere in OC..or in Cali .My brother in law bought a house in DP 16yrs ago from the builder and he paid $230k for it ,now his house is worth 1.5 million.

The other day I was in Anaheim (not in the nice part of the city where DL is),and there were new houses selling from the 900K ,directly looking at the street ,very flat area ,and thrift stores everywhere .I was thinking who would pay this money to live here ?!!Actually who has this amount of money?Apparentally lot of ppl do since it was phase 4 .Almost all my neighbours bought their homes when the prices where in the 300K.

EWWW! Tustin flats-right by S.A.! Gross.. You know you're there when you see 200,000 P-O-S cars parked on the side of the street. A big change from no cars up in the gated communities. Betcha can guess what race lives there...(no pun intended)

The folks with the bars over the windows also park their cars in the front yard (on the grass), not in the street.

Nothing wrong with North Orange County except for Anaheim and Buena Park which seem to slowly but surely be cleaning up nicely. Fullerton (execpt for the part next to Anaheim), Brea, Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills are all very nice places.

Santa Ana... well now that place is just gross. How the hell is it that the county seat looks that bad?

The best place to check out the prices in each area and see the virtual tours of the neighborhood is realtor.com
I found my home there and I researched from New York!
I was able to see the street, neighbors, views and the map of area!
It's a great resource tool.

Irvine should be the county seat. It amazes me that Santa Ana is the county seat.
