Default San Clemente to Irvine Commute

Does anyone commute from San Clemente to Irvine? How long does it take you to make the commute? What time of day do you make the drive? Also, how long have you been making that commute? Thanks.

I used to do a somewhat similar commute, edge of Mission Viejo, almost San Juan Cap, to Tustin ... it seemed like I was going against traffic. Most people come from the north I would think. Took me a solid 25 minutes. It was about five years ago (wow, time flies), so I imagine traffic might be worse now. I did the commute for a good year. Standard 8-5. I do remember it taking longer to get home for some reason.

Take the train since it stops in both cities or closeby towns.

Traffic will be free flowing until you hit Crown Valley Parkway in Mission Viejo/Laguna Niguel. It is slow from Crown Valley to Alicia or El Toro Rd. usually from 7-8:30AM and then speeds back up. Crown Valley is just a big bottle neck because Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, north Dana Point, south Laguna Beach, Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, and Las Flores residents are all some of the people that use Crown Valley to get on the freeway. It just becomes a mess at rush hour. Going south from 5-7PM you will hit some light traffic (moving 15 mpg) at the El Toro Y, but it then picks back up the rest of the way usually, with a little slowing at Crown Valley. It should be 35-45 minutes each way.
