thanks for the update bhcomp i am not that good in understanding directions like north of 91 and west of pioneer.. could you provide more clear specifications like neighbourhood communites? i came across a home in south and blooomfield cross street do you happen to know that locality(i dont expect you to know so much in detail though) another home 's cross street is E norwalk bl and S /195th st. is this close to norwalk? it's so confusing..as it has the name norwalk.. but it comes under whitney school which i heard is a good school district. are there good zipcodes like 90703.. do these zipcodes have bad areas too? if so should i look by community names?what are such good communities/zipcodes.

whitney is in the top 5 in so cal for high schools, so yes, its good. cerritos high school is good as well. avoid artesia high school, which is in the same school district as whitney and cerritos. gahr high school is okay, but not great.
there arent too many community names in cerritos(at least that are obvious to me). the only one that comes across my mind is at 195th and bloomfield, and that is called shadow hills or something.
195th and norwalk blvd is a nice area, but if it is south of 195th closer to del amo, it gets less nice(but not necessarily undesireable).
south and bloomfield is also nice, but in the neighborhood to the direct southeast of that intersection there is a mix of very nice, expensive custom homes and fairly old, small, distinctively spanish style homes, with some of them actually using bloomfield addresses, which is a major street.
i spent many of my years living at bloomfield and del amo, so i know the area quite well. i dont know the specific zip codes for cerritos though. im sorry my directions were not good. if you pull up a map, you should see the 91 freeway, and it cuts right through cerritos. if you map out the homes you are looking for, just avoid the homes north of the 91 freeway near cerritos city college, which is in the northwest part of town. there is a community near there called tiburon, and it is nice inside, but it is right next to the worst part of norwalk, so i would avoid it.
you may also want to consider rossmoor(unincorporated area inside los alamitos), which is 5-10 minutes south of cerritos. zip code is 90720. it is an enclosed(more or less, not gated) community and attends the los alamitos district, which is as good as the schools in cerritos(though whitney is rated higher). totally safe with no worries about which neighborhood you're in. you could also look at college park east and college park west in seal beach, which border rossmoor.

okay, boththose areas south are fine. east of norwalk is better.
also, if you look at the map when you have the north of 91 properties selected, the properties around moody/carmenita street and the cerritos park east are fine(basically anything east of Bloomfield Ave where the 91 starts curving southeast for a bit)

Anaheim Hills is right between your work places. You might want to check it out. It is very family friendly and the schools are top notch.

The best area is in Cerritos is a neighborhood called Shadow Park, it's a gated community bordered by Shoemaker to the East, 195th to the south, Bloomfield to West and South St to the North. A tiny group of newer homes in another gated community is called Encore and it's at 166th and Shoemaker but there are never any homes for sale there. One last group is on Shoemaker and Droxford on the east side this was the site of the last diary farm in Cerritos, I believe the homes were built around '89.
As far as schools go you'll want to check here. Basically for elementary you want to be in the following schools boundaries: Leal, Carter, Whitman or Stowers.
For middle school you want to be in: Tetzlaff or Carmenita
For high school: Cerritos High (people pay a big premium for being the boundary of Cerritos High, you notice that right away when you start looking at properties)
Whitney High school/middle school is a special case and is a test in school. It's vitually impossible to get in after 7th grade since it's 7th grade class is made up of the top elementary schools kids in GATE that will the best way to get in. I believe the elementary schools I listed above have the largest quotas for this.
