It's small to me, especially for a family of four or more!! I guess it depends on what you are used to. If you are used to a 750 sq ft garage than 1800 would be huge. Just a matter of perspective. OC is over-rated and over-priced. I don't understand where the money goes down there. I guess to beach clean-up or all the gas that is wasted on freeway sitting!!
I would never pay that much to live on a postage stamp especially after living elsewhere... What a rip!!
quote=bhcompy;9055537]1800sqft isnt small. for most housing here its at least in the middle. postwar housing in lakewood, long beach, downey, etc is all in the 1200-1600sqft range[/quote]

Mission Viejo is not a huge city in itself, but many of the towns run together to make it a huge, suburbian area.... A sub of what? I dunno....this area is half way inbetween Los Angeles and San Diego. Not all homes are 1,800 feet in M.V. The majority are larger.
Compared to anywhere 'up north', the Pacific is warm here.....compared to Mexico and Hawaii, it is not. The high fog burns off by the ocean here, too....and we don't have to wear coats by the ocean, even during the winter.... (This is not for any type of argument......I think the Portland and Seattle areas are very pretty, they are just different than S. California).
S. California is crowded for a reason....of course natives wish it was less so.....most houses, especially anything built in the last 40 years or so, are 2 stories because they have run out of land on which to build them. The climate is Mediterranean, hard to beat. Our cars don't rust on the bottom here.....no snow, no black ice in the winter
People who live in S. California do not spend a lot of time in their homes because the weather enables them to get out for planned activities all year long...very few homes have 'craft rooms', etc.

She's a mental case because she doesn't think OC is heaven on earth like everyone on this forum?

Good post and I agree. Thanks for the civil reply. I actually like some of the cities south of Irvine but like I have said over and over again on this forum you have to make a lot of money to live there. Something that not everyone is able to do. And for those who can't or don't make much money it is tough to live in the OC area. I am not posting here for the rich and well-off, I am posting for the poor souls that have to live in less desirable areas where there are problems.
For example there was a guy who asked a question about a week ago. He was from another country and was considering a move to OC. He said he made $10.00 and hour. Now please answer this question? Where in OC will he be able to live on that income level?
I'm waiting???
And my point is this... Please spare the people the agony of moving there and suffering when they don't have to...

Thank you all for your input on this thread. It turns out, though, that we will be moving to GA instead. That is where we are both from and where all our family is still, so we are very pleased!
