I have to agree with most of your post although I'm from San Diego. I have great memories, but the crowds became crazy and I just wanted to raise my kids in a slower, more family oriented environment. I was actually worried though that when we would move that I would miss Disneyland like crazy, it was one of my favorite places,lol...we'd always have season passes to Sea World and the zoo and I have super memories of taking the kids there in the morning for just an hour or two before it got way too crowded or meeting my husband there after he would get off work. I'd pack up the kids and we'd all meet up at Sea World or the zoo or Wild Animal Park for their summer nights and have dinner and watch a show....those are some great memories and things I miss most!

Can a Moderator rename this thread to "The Truth about Southern California from a former west coast Girl...", or even swap out California for San Diego.
This is obviously the perspective from a specific part of CA and is not representative of the entire state.

Well said!!!
And with that said I am only here on this post sharing my story and hoping that the innocent people who don't know all of this read these posts and get the "truth" about the area. It is a horrible thing to spend hundreds even thousands of dollars relocating to find out you can't afford it and it isn't what you imagined it to be. I really wish I would have known what I found out to be true after it was too late.
And for the people already there, I just hope they can find somewhere decent to live and enjoy the many amneties that come with living in the area. Disneyland, Sea World, Universal Studios, etc. At least having a little fun now and then makes it tolerable.
Thanks for all the support..

Although that is not necessarily a bad thing, it does reduce the appeal of California to people from other states and to some of the people who live there now. Between the faltering reputation of the area, the out of control costs, the government mees, the lack of water and other problems, the national appeal of California has fallen. If the area has lost its mass appeal, it may not regain it unless the problems/concerns are resolved. The issues that people are looking for are chainging and available water and good schools are becomming top prioities. California has a shortage of both. It is hard to say. However there is so much momentum going in California that if there is a reversal, it will probably not be significantly noticable in our lifetimes.

Changing the title..
I actually tried to change the title and can't find any link to do so. You are right.. San Diego is better and so is North San Diego county although they are expensive also and have their share of problems. I was more or less speaking of OC when I started this post. Hopefully people will understand that I meant OC instead of San Diego. I will try to enter a footnote to that is possible.
Thanks for bringing up a good post.

Mistake on the song title!!
It was very late when I posted this and the song title is "Welcome to the Jungle". Same thing basically. That is how I felt especially in freeway traffic...

Just a thought, it would be kind of interesting to find out.

Holy Cow, look who posted the report: MSNBC, not the most reliable and it was a report from Associated Press, another pretty biased organization and only based on the top 10 cities using 1 in 37 people: this hardly is a study that means much to anyone that understands surveys, studies and stats.

Which is why I think personal experience is the best and I would rather base a move on someone who actually lives/lived in the "Jungle" than a statistical report. Everything can look great on paper but it doesn't always look or work like that in the real world. I am happy, I have had several people who have read this thread, sent me a personal message to inform me that they are NOT going to move to OC. So I feel like I spared a few lives the agony of all that goes on in lovely OC. There was one poor guy from another country that wanted no part of the struggle that he would have had to deal with making only $10.00 and hour. He had NO idea what it was like or how expensive it really was. He has decided to move somewhere where he can afford to live. Smart choice for him. And also good news for all the OC residents... NO MORE PEOPLE!!! My truth and that of a few other people who really care about what this forum is all about....people, has paid off!! Great job well done.... Thanks to all of you for your support.. Hopefully our threads won't get lost in the cracks as time goes on.
