I live in Santa Ana because we lucked into a very cheap renting situation. I grew up in Irvine, went to Uni...
SANTA ANA IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE IN ORANGE COUNTY AND ONE OF THE WORST PLACES IN THE COUNTRY. The men are pigs that will whistle and stare at my wife even if I'm standing with her. The stray pit bulls are everywhere; at least 3 times they have gotten into my backyard. And dont get me started about the horrible neighbors who bump loud music, stand in their front yards all day drinking beer, park in front of my house and sit in their cars for 4 hours, shoot guns at 1a.m. and much much more.

Don't say "Santa Ana is a great place to live", because it's not. Thats a very ego centric thing to say. Santa Ana is no dirty jewel, its a dirty defecation, and its only getting dirtier.

parts of santa ana are great(parts of 92705 and a few other areas) and parts arent. santa ana is a large sprawling suburban/semi-urban city and there are definitely areas that are great and areas that arent.

I prefer Orange city. It's not that far away from Santa Ana, and I think the life-style is much better. In any case, I think this whole county is really not bad at all.

Take care!

Saying that Santa Ana is a good or bad place to live is like saying that California is a good or bad place to live. It all depends on where you are. Some parts good, some fair, some terrible. You cannot generalize about a city of this size with any measure of reasonableness. It is just absurd.

Some parts of Orange are far better than some part of Santa Ana. But then there are parts of Santa Ana that are better than parts of Orange. The same is true of every other city. It all depends on which parts you compare.

It isn't bad if you live near the Costa Mesa borderline. I lived near Saddleback High for 18 years of my life and I would go back home whenever I'm free. I would even go walking at 11pm around my neighborhood and nothing would happen.

Downtown Santa Ana is getting better on North Broadway with hipsters and artists living down there. If you are into art, live downtown. There are really cool apartments in the back of American Apparel.

What kind of scary things were (are) happening in Floral Park. I am seriously considering buying a home there and would like any feedback on the safety of neighborhood. It seems like it is good, but would like an inside point of view.
