Left CA (more than OC) for NH three years ago. Taxes, immigration, liberal idiocy high on the list of reasons why.

GetMeOutOfLANow is on a distinguished road
Personally, I can not wait to leave Southern California. I needed to move here because of the crappy economy kicking and screaming from Washington State .

Don't get me wrong, I grew up in California and have many family members and friends that continue to love it here. The weather is great if you like just one season, make a ton of money and can deal with the shallowness of people that like to display their status like driving around in a leased BMW or Mercedes.

What most people do not realize is that there are so many better places to live which are cheaper, cleaner and have much more genuine people to interact with. Personally, I can't wait to leave California for either the Pacific Northwest or Colorado.

I may have to leave OC for career reasons. But it will be grudgingly. I've lived across the country, including the N.E. (Bucks, Montgomery County, Pa. for example). To me OC is a better place to live.

But I agree... it is *horrendously* expensive for those of us without stellar incomes to live here.

But, were I in the income bracket to say, own beachfront at Laguana or Dana Point, I'd be happy... if I weren't planning to hit Hawaii.

Since you have family though, and I don't some of the reasons I like OC, probably don't apply to your situation. (Schools, etc. aren't an issue. Lots of attractive women, great weather, low crime, etc. do it for me, LOL!)

So interesting that lots of people here are agreeing that OC is hard to live in yet I am being crucified for my thread titled "the truth about California from a former west coast girl. I can't believe how many people are angry about what was said. I don't think I exaggerated one bit and I did say good things about it (which there is). Every place has good and bad points about it.. I just experienced a lot of bad and very little good. I am so glad to not live there anymore. I do not miss it one bit. The weather was nice and there is beautiful places but it just isn't worth the hassle of everything else to stay for a few good things...

Hopefully you will all find joy in where you are... Peace

Hey, I grew up not too far from there (Carthage), and used to go to Branson, and Shell Knob a lot, especially to the Lake. Have you been to Silver Dollar City yet? Last time I went there (12 years ago) it was pretty fun, but I heard that it has changed A LOT since then and gotten MUCH bigger. Anyway, the Branson area is the nicest area that you could live in SW Missouri. It's good to see someone from Cali actually enjoying it there and not griping about stuff like the weather.

Why should you care about what people think? I see nothing wrong with your title or anything that you have said in this thread. All you that you have done is provided your perspective, and there is NOTHING wrong with that. Everyone has the right to express their opinions and views, but I don't believe that they should beat down others (especially over something stupid and trivial like a title). So just ignore all of those bad apples that have been slamming your posts. They obviously have nothing better to do and/or they have issues.

The sentence in bold print above says it all. Anybody with anything resembling critical thinking skills will see how tremendously flawed that sentence is.

That's precisely where we're moving in a few months once my wife recovers from surgery and gets her "walking papers." We look forward to four distrinct seasons, a much lower cost of living and a less hurried lifestyle. It will enhance our retirements.
