Default I want to learn spanish, but which program to use.

I know this has nothing to do with Orange County, but since we do have a large hispanic population I wanted to learn the spanish language. Me myself being filipino, we do have a lot of words in common, but I want to be able to carry on a full conversation. I have taken four years of spanish in high school I am 19, any suggestions as to where I should start and what programs to use like the rosetta stone? I was looking to spend about a 100 bucks.

Four years of Spanish in high school and you haven't picked it up?

Try taking a Spanish class (one that suits your current Spanish proficiency) at a community college and get a job at Denny's so you can practice.

It worked for me. (I took three years of Spanish in high school and concurrently worked at Denny's.)

With 4 years of Spanish in High School you should know all the basics, perhaps just start using it?

There are some free Podcasts called "Coffee Break Spanish" it is 'Spain' Spanish, but it should do.
Possibly take a class at the Community College to refresh? (60$ I think + book)
Spend more time around Mexicans.
Get a Mexican Girlfriend (my personal choice√)

I grew up in a pretty bilingual household, took 3 years of HS Spanish and I'm ashamed at how little I know.

I have a decent sized vocab, and I can understand a little. And if I had to translate it would be a doable but painful process.

I tried to start Rosetta Stone. I got the first couple of lessons done and I really liked it.

I had the Spanish from Spain so I was lisping the whole time but It's a great tool.

I honestly found Rosetta Stone to be pretty useful in learning Spanish. I ended up giving it up at no fault to the program, but because I just didn't have the time anymore. I also used the Irish Gaelic version (Gaelige) and it was useful, but not the dialect I was wanting.

rosetta stone. LIbraries usually have a few copies.

Then watch a lot of spanish language tv. or listen to spanish language radio. find some hispanic or spanish friends. Nothing beats immersion

I think for folks who want to learn Spanish, this would be a good program to follow:
Resource: Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish

You can watch it online for free. They talk slower than **** so it would be easy for beginners to follow.
Personally, from looking at Rosetta Stone commercials on tv, I'm not sold on the idea. How often do you find yourself saying, "The horse is jumping"? Even if you lived on a horse farm your whole life, hopefully you'd find something less retarded to say than "el caballo salta".
