We had our wedding there at probably the most beautiful public venue I can imagine - Ole Hansen Beach Club. Amazing. I love the city, but it's pretty far removed from any commercial centers. If youre retired or have a nearby job, I'm sure it would be great. But if you have to commute to OC or LA, youll be putting on some serious miles.
Also, real estate and rents tend to be expensive there. Check out Find All the Homes for Sale & Experienced Real Estate Agents | Redfin to see the price of homes on the market.

Your dog might be a problem no matter where you live unless you are out towards the country..... Many home insurance companies will not offer insurance with your type of dog.....
Talgea is newer.....on the non-ocean side of the freeway......but there is a mall with Wal Mart, etc., in that area.......
The older (quaint) beach community is on the ocean side of I-5 for the most part.....there are a few main streets for shopping in the village area......the streets wind around....many are hilly.....good for exercise and ocean views, but not if you are carrying a lot of groceries, etc....
On the non-ocean side of the freeway, right by the freeway, there is the hospital, a mall with Trader Joe's, Ralph's (groceries), AAA office, etc.....houses in that area are older, but many see the ocean because they are elevated....

Thanks & yet another question
Yes, I'm aware about some of the unfair rules about my dog (bad press and bad owners and every pit is deemed a risk) However I've been assured by a few rental agencies that it shouldn't be a problem after they have met my dog. Would San Clemente North be considered a great area (specifically W Canada & Del Gado? Thanks for your info.

W Canada is nice because it is close to the beach and is hilly going down toward the beach. The portion south of Calle Puente is better than the portion to the north of Calle Puente. You will find many duplexes and apartments in that particular area and the demographics are roughly 50% Hispanic and 50% white. The portion north of Calle Puente is walkable to El Camino Real shops while it is a bit far from Del Mar shops. It isn't the best street in San Clemente, but it is decent.
Del Gado is in the less walkable area of San Clemente's beach areas as it is mainly all residential. The apartments and homes up on this street are up on a large hill and a farther walk to the beach than the Canada area. The location is probably less "beach town" feeling because it has less density and tends to be more cul-de-sacs that give it a more suburban feel that is adjacent to the beach. The area is more white than the Canada property.

San Clemente - TALEGA vs Corona
Hi everyone
We live in Chicago and planning to Move to Talega by end of next year.
We have 2 months old and 30 months old girls.
I would like more information about living in San Clemente specially TALEGA. Schools, safety whether etc anything.
Job or traffic is not a issue , my wife staying home with kids, I'm running my companies in Chicago so at least for few years don't care about traffic.
Please write anything ... also we thinking about Corona because size / prices of the houses are great but it kind of to far to ocean ... i love boating.

Rather than hijack this thread you might consider starting a new one.
