San Clemente Info please
Can anyone tell me about San Clemente? What would be the best part to live in if you want to walk to stores and shops? What's the least desirable part of town? Best restaurants? Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

San Clemente is a great town! It is very laid back, a strong community and has lots of very safe areas...not to mention great surf spots. Do you have a family or are you living alone? You can walk to shops and restaurants if you live on the west side of the 5 freeway near Del Mar street or within walking distance. Since that area is very close to the beach there are many rentals although a lot of those would require you to have roommates. My fav restaurant is the Vine...lots of good food and good wine of course. It is kind of pricey. Let me know if you need any other info on the city--

Seems like the biggest negative of negative of San Clemente would be its remoteness from job clusters. A person near the 5 in San Clemente would probably be about the same distance from jobs north in say Irvine or Huntington Beach as would a person in RSM. However, it looks like someone in Talega would be an extra ten minutes farther than those.

I'm with my family, the rentals I'm looking at are basically broken up into Central San Clemente, SW San Clemente and North San Clemente, although have been sent a few to Talladega (which seems less like the laid back beach town I'm looking forward to living in) I use the site walkscore.com to help me rate somewhere as far as walkability but it would be nice to hear from those of you who live there as to what you think are the better parts. I'm looking for a 3/2 or a 2/2 with a small office, besides wanting walking distance to stores (my mom does not drive, so I'd like her to be able to get around by herself when she wants to) I also have a well trained, neutered, 2 year old female pitbull, whose tail and ears are unaltered, alot of the apartment communities have breed restrictions and guess what? Pitbulls seem to be public enemy number 1 lol. I'm basically looking at either private home rentals or townhouses with long term leases but I'd like to narrow down my area, I'm planning a trip there end of this month to look. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

When you say family, are kids in the mix and do you need good public schools?? Just be cautious of Las Palmas Elementary boundaries if you do have kids in elementary.
