They're both neat and well kept neighborhoods. W. Canada has more multifamily places than Mariposa does. After you cross Calle Puente you get more single family homes, and higher prices of course, because you're getting closer to the water.
Both streets used to be perfectly situated for a short walk to the grocery store, but the Safeway was replaced by a Rite-Aid and the Albertsons was replaced by a CVS. You are in short walking distance of some funky shops and non-chain eating places along El Camino Real.
From W. Canada and Calle Puente, you're 0.7 mi and an uphill climb away from the main drag section of town, the intersection of Del Mar and ECR. All kinds of shops and eating places along both those streets in that area.
There's a Ralphs supermarket on ECR 1.2 miles south of the intersection of W. Canada and La Puente.
