The Related Development Project is still in its review phase i.e. it could be several years before the hotel rooms, commercial space, senior care and residential units will be available.

They're doing something similar in the touristy Seaport Village area of San Diego.

Yeah, I’m familiar with the (massive) project to redevelop Seaport Village in SD (by 1HWY1); it will also include a yacht club, art exhibition space, an aquarium, etc. A Related project more in line with the Santa Ana redevelopment, per the thread, is in Santa Clara (across from Levi’s Stadium).

That one looked like the area around Jamboree and Michelson, ritzy, soulless and cold concrete paradise, like most parts of Irvine.

Looks like the Hooli campus from the Silicon Valley show, the tech bros will love it and gladly fork over $4k+/month for a 2br apartment.

Shopping in Santa Ana is the last thing I want to do with its 9.25 percent sales tax.

It’s a redevelopment plan for the Town Square shopping area (which is already there) re: thousands of residential units, hotel rooms, commercial and open space i.e. mixed-use; it’s not focused on retail. Hence my previous response to Forever Blue’s comment he/she planned to go as soon as the project is completed.
