Question Anaheim neighborhoods?

I'm planning to move to Anaheim this fall from Oregon. I could use some help finding a safe and relatively inexpensive neighborhood within the city limits of Anaheim itself. I will be renting for at least the first year or so, and will not have children in the school system. I understand that areas can change drastically within just a couple of blocks, so figuring out where to start looking (or not to look) would be a great help!

The only part of Anaheim I'd live in is Anaheim Hills. Not sure what you budget is, but its pretty expensive out there. The rest of Anaheim is known as Anacrime or Anaslime.

^^ Yeah seriously, Anaheim isn't a nice area. Why not live outside of Anaheim?

I was hoping there were at least a few nicer areas of Anaheim. I will be teaching there, but housing restrictions (hud) will limit the areas I can choose. I can only go to the city of Anaheim or Riverside/San Bernardino Counties. So until I get back on my feet again, my options are somewhat limited.

Default Anaheimxico is OK

I've lived in Anaheim for 7 years now. It's a very safe area and the only caveat I would offer to you is that you try to stay away from the predominently Mexican areas (and I say this as a latino myself). And the only reason for giving you that warning is NOT due to the presence of crime per se in those areas but rather that fact that you'll feel like you're living more in Mexico than in the U.S. Plus the fact that the Mexicans we get here are not the quality, educated ones (those stay home cause they already got a good thing). Instead we get the uneducated laborers who IMHO have no business living in countries like ours with indoor plumbing.

I live near the Crystal Cathedral and my nabes been overrun by Mexican minimum wage earners who bought single-family homes for $650K and then rented out each and every f@cking room in the house to outsiders in order to meet the mortgage payments. End result; my street is now FULL of ****ty cars, a drastic increase in litter, ranchera music blaring 24/7, street vendors of every ilk plying their trades and a bunch of drivers with no insurance or even a drivers license. I have unknown people coming and going 24/7 and tho they're not dangerous, they WILL urinate in your front yard or throw empty beer bottles if you don't go Minute-Man on them.

I recommend the Fullerton area starting north of Chapman Ave. It's MUCH nicer and definitely more American.

Adios

They are one of the driving forces of the economy, if there was no work for them here they wouldn't be here. And they have no business here because they are poor? Oh please, the majority of people that came to the US were poor and yet its the most powerful country in the world. If you want to hate mexicans and discriminate against the poor, then maybe America isn't for you. You should think about moving back to whatever backwater your parents come from.

I didn't say they "have no business here" dumbazz. I DID say however that they DO NOT assimilate and instead of adopting our language, customs & culture they simply bring their own and stick to it. If the "majority of the people" who came to the U.S. before them had done the same WE WOULD HAVE BEEN WIPED OUT AS A NATION ALREADY.

Idiota.

That is your quote, you said nothing about assimilation etc. You can read right?

They assimilate to the culture within a generation or two. When europeans were coming to this country by the boat they too set up communities, the artifacts of these communities are visible in any big city on the east. I mean seriously in NYC some of these communities are still active today.
Face it, you just hate mexicans.

house or apartment? There are lots of decent gated apartment communities sprinkled around. As a quick rule of thumb, anywhere that accepts hud or section 8 or has rent for under $1000, generally isn't somewhere you want to be.

Look toward the eastern and northern parts of the city (more 55 than 57). Avoid streets like Ball and western Lincoln.
