For some reason elmagnifico sounds like he didn't have the life skills or the gumption to succeed in the OC. Your rambling really says a lot about you. Your immature, broke, jobless, girl-less, and now, living back home with your parents, chump, Stay there! Real men take responsibility for their short comings and work on them, we don't blame them on a geographical area, kook! It's true, the cost of living is high. That's why people work long hours and are tired when they get home and go straight inside. We do like are toys, you can see them in all the water ways, in the deserts, and on the freeways. Anything you can ride, jump, go-fast, or generally have a good time with, we want it, and we work long hours to obtain them. On the other hand, there are a lot of areas that are reasonably priced and everyone knows everyone. OC is very diverse, there's something for everyone.

Yes, the place is physically beautiful and very spacious but in exchange you get southern californians. These people are the most shallow, slow-witted, materialistic and uncultured people you could hope to meet (outside of Texas of course). It's a 100% freakin' car-culture which means these Moderator cut: removed never get a chance to practice and hone any significant social skills due to the fact that they rarely interact with other human beings. Hot topics in these parts?. The weather!, which BTW is constantly sunny and gets to be a Moderator cut: removedDRAG after the initial euphoria of it wears off. Gimme a freakin' cloud every now & then somebody PLEASE!.

These people have ZERO sense of humor and lack the wit that God gave the common field asparagus. My theory is that the constant sunshine fades the brain and renders people tanned Moderator cut: removed.

Cosmetic details are of the UTMOST importance here & silicone enhancements are a MUST for woman. Speaking of Cali woman, they're mostly greedy, dimwitted moneychasing blonds and the California woman is in general like plastic fruit; nice to look at ..but flavorless and inedible.

I just went back East after a long absence and felt like I was freakin' ALIVE again. The diversity, the action, the odors (good & bad) the edgy humor, the streetsmart people, the culture ...THAT'S LIFE !

I'm packing it up and heading back to civilization man!!!!
Ah, Elmag' Are U sure U were hanging around w/the right crowd? Culturalwise, O.C. may not quite be on par w/New Yawk' but there are plenty. Have you been to the new Music Center South of S.A. Or the Laguna Art festival or the UC Irvine theater group and etc?? The OC women are no different than any in the other lower 48 or up here in Alaska. True, I am bias to the people up here but people are still people

I don't think it's right that you personally attack a poster that doesn't agree with you. He feels the same way alot of us do, Orange County is overrated! I could live anywhere I want because I have lots of money, but you could offer me a free house on the coast anywhere in Orange County and I would still refuse to live there. Why,you ask? Becouse of the totally selfish and rude attitudes of a number of it's residents, that's why!

Oh brother!! I'd rather see New Yorker's stay on the East Coast. I lived in Florida for many years and in South Florida for about 6 months. South Florida is considered little New York...I found New Yorker's extremely rude, selfish, abrasive, nasty and horribly rude when they drive. I grew up here in California and I have never been to New York. I don't really plan on a visit either based on what I've experience in Florida. Trust me they don't like you in Florida either. If someone is rude or honks at you, you can bet they are from New York and thier plates usually confirm that. My brother came to live in Florida for a while and never had a bad impression of New Yorker's, now he does based on his own experiences. Trust me we cringe now when we see a New York plate here in California. Perhaps you should check out South Florida you might feel more at home with the rude New Yorker's there.

For all the (quiet?) NYers out there: We're not all the same! We're not all rude and selfish, just as much as I don't think all Californians are shallow and self-absorbed. The great thing about NY is its diversity, but having travelled all over the world, I can say we don't have a monopoly on that.

I don't mind that "elmag" doesn't like the OC, or agree with my point of view. It's the derogatory comments that he makes about OC residents, the immature manner in which he articulates himself, and the lack of intelligence in his ramblings, that bothers me. Not to mention the fact that he never saw "anything" good in the OC, tells me he's just bitter. Oh yea, that is one thing about us OC er's, we don't have sympathy for whiners, brats, or anyone who generally can't hack the lifestyle. If the OC isn't for you, great, go somewhere that suits you. But what you don't do is attack our people, our lifestyle, and our city, and expect no one to respond in kind. Cause as we mentioned, we don't have time to baby people, we're working way to many hours to deal with that. As for "sweetclimber", I'm truly sorry if I've offended you in any manner, that's not my intention. But, like "elmag", I am entitled to my opinion, and the right to express it.

What's up everyone? I stumbled across this forum recently then came across all these OC-hater threads...some funny reading really. So, with one of my first posts here, I'll jump right in!

First, let me state that I've lived most of my life in So Cal, although I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, but I've spent about all but 5 of the last 17 years in OC (the other five living in Chicago...so I do have some qualfications as it relates to responding to this thread ). One thing that I've always found ironic about "I hate OC/LA" conversations (whether they be online, in newspapers, in person, whatever) is that so many people who do live here actually came from somewhere else....back east, the mid west, other countries, etc. So, the people who complain about OC residents (as in this thead) are quite often complaining about people who are just like them....transplants! When I moved back from Chicago in 98, I moved into a prototypical OC development with lots of homes crammed onto small lots. The neighbor across from me...from Joliet, IL....one around the corner was from London....two doors down were from Scottsdale...on and on....and they behaved pretty much just like everyone else. In other words, it would be very difficult to look at someone and say "he's a transplant" or "he's a native based on behavior alone.

Its OK if you don't like it here just at it should be OK if I didn't like NYC. They're not the same, never will be. Just like Seattle, Dallas, Vegas, Atlanta are all different yet all great cities (in their own right). I lived in Chicago for 5 years, 3 in the city 2 in the 'burbs...absolutely loved it there but it made me appreciate So Cal even more (especially the wonderful weather we have and what that weather allows us to do year round). D

I don't get it. I've had several posts removed for ALOT less than this, along with a message from the mods warning me against "flaming or trolling" and telling me to avoid "personal attacks" and "read the rules" etc etc etc.
