Default Somewhere between Mission Viejo and Los Angeles...

Hello all,

I know this might seem like a pretty vague thread but I am going to be moving out to California (More like a 6month trial run) and I'm not exactly sure where I'd like to go. I will give you a little background on my situation first, I'm 31 and getting married next year. About 6months after the wedding, we'd like to put our belongings into storage and do a short 6month rental somewhere between L.A and Mission Viejo. I say this because I have family in Mission Viejo and I have a few very good, well connected friends in L.A (west Hollywood to be exact). Also My best friend is a traveling nurse and is actually going to take an assignment anywhere we choose so we can all room together and save money on rent, that makes it a lot easier I think.

I am an Esthetician/Hairdresser/Artist/Bartender, and my Fiance is a Graphic Designer/Bartender/DJ, and we plan on hunting for jobs in any field at first but there are possibility's of working at either John Wayne airport, or some of the major concert venues/theatre's in downtown L.A to begin with. I plan to get into a salon/spa or a dermatologist office as soon as possible and tend bar on the side...

Anyway, I have stayed in Redondo for 10 days and really liked the community, and although it seemed somewhat quiet, I liked the lifestyle (and has some fun in Hermosa), I also stayed in Irvine and although I didn't explore much, I really liked that area as well. I have been to Cali many times so I am aware of most of the area's, just not as much as I'd like to be. My cousin recommended Huntington Beach, Laguna, or Costa Mesa but I don't know much about either. In short I guess some of the things I'm looking for is proximity to outdoor activities (Parks, etc), yoga studio's, some nightlife and a good farmer's market would be the frosting on the whole cupcake :-)

Thanks for listening...

All of those areas you mentioned aren't really inbetween. The best option would probably be Long Beach. It's the closest you'll get to the middle that has what you're looking for in the neighborhood. You could also explore the LA Metro and Metrolink rail systems and pick a few cities along there depending on where exactly you'll be working. You could do something like Orange or Fullerton along the rail routes. You'll be closer to MV, but you won't be driving all the way to LA either. Long Beach has an LA Metro rail(blue line i believe) that goes from downtown LB to union station in LA, and downtown(and pretty much all of the coastal districts east of there) would probably suit what you're looking for

Great Info... I will look into that. I like the idea of the metro. My friend mentioned Long Beach too...

Thanks
