Flying flags is fine if people want to do that. Whatever floats your boat.

By the same token, though, there are a lot of perfectly patriotic people who don't feel obligated to put their political beliefs in everyone's face.

So relax. Minding one's own business is a virtue.

I think there might be four flags in the entire city of RSM. Sure, there are flags around. There's a huge one on Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills.. but big deal.. go explore the country... see how people show their pride! Are flags restricted by HOA rules?

Does the cookie cutter personality not like to be different from the neighbors by having a flag?

Do you have a flag on your OC property and how many of your neighbors do too?
Personally, I think this is one of many subtle ways in which global elitists work to undermine support for the sovereignty of all nation states. The global elite wants us to support their New World Order dictatorship that they're bulding bit by bit.

Surprised by the lack of American flags? It's called apathy. Same reason our sports fans aren't die hard (sorry to equate nationalism with sports, but it's true).

We don't get excited about anything, except maybe traffic and rain.

Welcome to California.

um, in my book any house with a thousand flags on their house indicates that they are ultra conservative nuts and I wouldn't touch the house with a ten foot pole... btw Im a OC resident and the conservatism in this area makes me dizzy.

The OP isn't asking about a thousand flags, just one.

I have always likened flag waving to gang colors. Not much difference. Fight over colors, fight over flags. It is all about money and territory.

Its an interesting topic. I've noticed it a lot coming back from the east, like vermont, pennsylvania, delaware.

LA/OC displays very little "Americanism", as displayed by the rest of the country. LA (OC especially) is cookie cutter suburbanism. I think it has to do with the fact,

-You have a large number of foreign born residents. More than 98% white vermont.
-Tremendous corporatization (starbucks on every corner). It drowns out individualism. The cookie cutter gated homes in oc drown out individual expression. It's not about the individual here. It's more about the Mercedes, the cookie cutter home, the group soccer team, etc.
-The city is newer. It doesn't have the history that philadelphia or cities in the east do.
-And people just arent as grounded as those in ohio or vermont.

Just a different culture here.
