the best tasting, IMO
There is a place called Imperial Charbroil in La Habra. Granted, they are a typical "greasy spoon" in that they serve burgers, sandwiches, fried fish, etc. But they also serve nice big greasy meat and cheese burritos. If they are still doing what I have seen them do in the kitchen in the past, they are still cooking their fries in lard .
As for those hung up on "authenticity", the burrito is itself a "cross-cultural" product (it was created by a Mexican-American in the 1930s in Los Angeles), and so I would say to the OP "go with what tastes good to you." If you want "authentic" anything, either go to an immigrant's house or an immigrant-owned restaurant, or, better yet, go to whatever country or region of a country that has food whose taste you wish to try "in purity".
Even so, given worldwide instant communication and easy travel, what part of the world has not been influenced by some other part or parts of the world, even in cuisine?

Sorry to confuse you, Fontucky.
There were earlier posts regarding "authentic" Mexican food.
My point was that burritos were actually created in L.A. starting in the thirties. At least, I have read sources that name someone who started to market tortilla-wrapped food as burritos at that time. I cannot remember the name of the person, but the point is that the burrito as it is today did not REALLY originate in Mexico, so what IS an authentic burrito?

You've probably already ate your burrito, but my vote:
Los Golondrinas breakfast burrito with chorizo and green salsa

If you are ever in the BayArea eat a burrito at Chavez Supermarket, absolutely some of the best seasoned meat I have ever tasted outside of Mexico.
Chavez Supermarket & Taqueria - San Jose, CA
The cooks have the infamous Silver Tooth...You know that the Mexican food is good when you see that silver tooth .

best burrito
El Toro Bravo in Costa Mesa. best mexican food period. burrito and tacos are amazing. don't be scared by the ghetto look, there's only two or three high-top tables to stand at outside, but large portions of meat in amazing mexican food.
