Hi! I have a 5 month old boy who is very active. We are fairly new to California. Does anyone know of classes, activities, or even playgroups that I can take him to so he can interact with other kids, and develop social and maybe even some motor skills? There seems to be a few toddler activities, but not so much for younger kids. Thanks!

Where in OC are you? Don't want to recommend something in San Clemente if you live in Fullerton.

One of the best things I did when my kids were little was join my local MOMS Club chapter. Here's the site:

Welcome to the MOMS Club

Go to chapters and then find the one closest to you and email them to find out when & where they are meeting. My chapter was very supportive, my kids made friends and we had lots of fun a couple of times a week with our group. I started when I had a toddler and a newborn and there were lots of moms with infants only and even some that were pg with their first! Great organization.

Depends on what city you are in, but the local parks and recreation departments can be very good and affordable. The larger cities like Anaheim and Irvine will have much better offerings than the smaller cities.

I live in Tustin. I don't mind having to travel a bit if it's worth it.
So far I signed him up for the Babies love Music program in Tustin via the parks and rec dept.- but that is only for 4 classes. I only checked Tustin, maybe I'll check Irvine as well. See if there are any other offerings. Thanks for the Mom's Club suggestion. I will check out the site. Great suggestions so far!

Check out the Irvine city rec dept catalog on-line. They have a ton of Mommy/Daddy & me activities.

Irvine's Bill Barber park near Barranca and Harvard is a great municipal park w/ a really cool play area. Always tons of kids there on the weekends (and Mom's who will be able to give you even more ideas).

Not sure if they go down to 5 month olds, but gymboree and my gym both have stuff for little ones.

Try the city websites, like park and rec.
Try YMCA
Gymboree type places.
Play & Learn, Music, Art, Sports, School Skills, and Preschool Classes for your Baby, Infant, Toddler, and Preschooler - Gymboree Play & Music
Call Montessori schools and ask them for recommendations.
