Moving to Fullerton nr LA
Hello guys,
Wonder if someone could answer a few questions for me on life in LA.
I'm from London orginally so I'm alittle worried about the culture shock, i.e. no tubes and no walking? I presume I will need to buy a car or quickly become friends with people who have cars?
What's Fullerton like? How close is the beach?
General stuff like this really? It would be great to hear from anyone who has moved from London to LA and how they got on.
Many thanks
Sarah

Fullerton is about 30 miles southeast of downtown LA and between 15-20 miles from the beach. It is a town of around 135,000 people, yet it doesn't really feel like it. It has a definite downtown, yet is generally pretty safe in that area. There is a transportation center in the downtown that is a hub for bus and train service, including lines to LA, San Diego and other points.
I lived in Fullerton for 18 years (in several different neighborhoods) and still go there or pass through there often. Any further details needed feel free to ask. I can't speak for coming from London, though. There is, however, a restaurant just north of downtown called "The Olde Ship", which features "British food".

One other note:
Fullerton is actually pretty walkable, by the way, at least downtown and near the community college. In other areas it would just mean a little more walking.

It's a small college town.
It's a small college town.
Most of the town is residential area.
There's Troy High school , CSU fullerton, Fullerton College, Fullerton Highschool.
It's primarily a family town.
There's some commercial plazas/centers you can visit. They have KFC, Chipotle, Quiznos, Office Depot, Post Office, etc.
There's Disneyland in nearby Anaheim, there is the Brea Mall in Brea.
There's a park in Brea, right by the mall.
There's some golf courses.
It's a livable city.
If you get bored, you can visit Fry's Electronics or Bestbuy to look around and buy some video games.
There's lots of things to do.

Fullerton is actually about 135,000 people, yet doesn't really feel like it in many posts.
There is also the arboretum at the university, many parks, cool neighborhoods through which to walk.
Also, there is a fair amount of decent Mexican food. (at least by my semi-gabacho tastebuds) "|
