BTW - I'm an east coast transplant and would like a few of the conveniences of home (a downtown, parks, sidewalks and good pizza).

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Even though I made a post and don't want to be labeled hypocrit, cobmw is right the discussion regarding immigration should be taken to an immigrattion forum. The original thread has nothing to do with immigration and we're not helping this person discover the safe neighborhoods of Fullerton like they're requesting.

So, to the original question. I would agree with most that staying north of the tracks, including downtown, is very safe and will give you a lot of what you were looking for. The further north you get the newer it gets and of course the pricier. One good thing, in Fullerton your never far from a Target! There's three (now that's convenience!), including my favorite, the Target Greatland on Malvern and Gilbert. I pass two other Targets just to get to that one.

Hi, I also have small children the age of 5, so they will be starting kindergarten. I am looking for a good neighborhood, school, and nice homes. We looked at two homes, one on Canyon Drive, cross streets are Loma Alta and Gilbert (92833), and the other one is on Madonna Drive (92835), in the Hermosa neighborhood, the cross streets are Las Riendes and South Puente (South of Imerial). I got totally scared when I was reading here about the gangs of Fullerton. I drove down Bastanchury once and past this nice park and then there were these streets, I think Presidents something, the homes looked really nice, it was before you reach Harbor, you know where St. Jude is. I think the homes that we saw are past Harbor, that can't be good, could it?
