SCM is the most convenient with a job in Santa Ana. Probably because it's technically in Santa Ana; at least it's one of the "best" parts of Santa Ana. I agree that if you're looking for public transport and shopping, that's probably your best bet. I live in that area because it's so close to my job.

Anaheim Hills is the nicest city on the list in a "suburban OC" type of way. That would be my choice if I were raising a family. When it comes time to take out a mortgage and buy a place of my own, then AnaHills would be high on my list.

I lived in Placentia for a few years recently, and it's pretty nice for the most part. There are definitely parts you'd want to avoid, but more so because they're eyesores than because of the threat of violence. But other than those parts, it's a swell town.

In the case of Fullerton, most of the city is kind of an eyesore until you go up into the hills. There are some pretty nice apartment communities in downtown as a result of gentrification attempts, but they're only worth it IMO if the location is convenient to you.

I don't have much experience with Old Town Orange, but it looks like a charming area when driving by; it seems to be a prime spot for Chapman U. students to live during college.

Stanton is ghetto, and I haven't heard of Sunny Hills, either.
