Default Moving to Orange County

My husband is taking a new job in Newport Beach and we need to find a great preschool for our son. Any suggestions on which ones in Orange County are better than others? Which towns are more family friendly and safe?

...and not one specific on your budget or the type of neighborhood you are looking for?

First step: Define "great". What's great to one person may not be to another. Do you need full time or part time? Do you want a Christian preschool... Jewish... secular... Montessori... play-based.... etc.? Is your child potty-trained? There are many factors to consider to help choose the best preschool for your situation.

Would be glad to help, but need more info - housing & preschool budget, kids age, other desires, etc. OC has tons of options - we need more info to narrow it down for you.

Mission Viejo is a very family-oriented community.

I went to elementary school in Mission Viejo. It is a well kept community considering the older housing.

Cities like Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Tustin Ranch, Aliso Viejo, and Ladera Ranch may be good choices for you.

I can tell you that I recently went on a search to find a preschool for my toddler that is not potty-trained. I live in Irvine. I suggest calling first because many have a two-year wait list. That's right - TWO YEARS. What is the point? I scheduled an appointment with two Montessori pre-schools, because I liked Montessori in the past with my older kids.

The first one I went too I hated the Director, well hate is a strong word. I disliked her immensely. There was NO WAY I going to subject myself to having to have contact with her on a regular basis.

My second appointment was with LePorte Montessori in Woodbridge neighborhood in Irvine. I REALLY liked the office staff, and the two co-Directors. I thought the environment was very cozy. I just liked everything about it. Since I knew they could likely fill up quickly for next fall, I signed my son up right there on the spot. It just felt right, so why risk losing a spot.

My son starts June 28th in their summer program for half-days. And then he will be there from 8 - 3pm in the fall. I am so excited for him - I cannot wait.

Just an update on my last post. Not long after my son started this preschool he was diagnosed with autism. To make a long story short and to spare you the gory details, he was kicked out of the preschool. I was not happy with how things went down at all, and in fact was even told that what happened may be illegal. Who knows, I am not the sue happy type.
