Ok, so they say 1 in 3 in big cities like ours has HSV-2 (Herpes type 2)...where are you? I know you must be out there.

I'd really prefer for the people that have nasty things to say about it, to keep it to yourself. You don't have to be promiscuous to have it. You can get it the first time you have sex...and even with a condom.

I guess I'm not expecting too many people to be open and admit that they have it, but you are free to message me. I'd like to hear from girls and guys on how they cope (or don't really cope) with it.

Nobody will admit they have the virus due to the social stigma at these general sites. If you really want to find someone that will admit they have it, you'd better go to the niche sites for people with herpes like http://www.HerpesFish.com. It is even no need to ask this question at those sites.

99% of the public has herpes and probably doesn't even realize it - the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles is in the herpes family.

the original poster is clearly talking about HSV-2. Not herpes virus in general.

The local Rite-Aid had a sign out front recently advertising a shingles vaccine. I wonder if this could be modified for HSV-2?

They say it will work even if you already had chicken pox.

Well they might send me an email...after all, we are all anonymous at this point. So how long have you had herpes?

Yes, you are correct, 80-90% of the population has type-1. Type-2, genital herpes, is 1 in 3 in big cities like ours. Only a lot people don't know they have it or they don't admit to it and keep spreading it around.

Rachel, they certainly can work. I met my husband in the community (a site called Hwerks) and officially meet him in person at a party that was listed on our local Meetup group. H Socials Southern CA (Burbank, CA) - Meetup. Feel free to message me and I can lead you to great social events and support groups.

I have HSV-2. I was the lucky guy who broke a girls celibacy. She never told me she had it and I never asked. It will be two years come March. I still don't know how to cope with it. I have a sex addiction, pornography addiction, lust addiction, and a recovering alcoholic. But if I were to tell you that my heart is in the right place, I wouldn't blame you for not believing me.

It's funny. Once I found out I had HSV-2, that's when I started thinking about how much I wanted a family and a son. And now whenever I think about dating, I feel like it's pointless because once I tell them my situation, they'll bail. So I don't even dare to begin with. It's difficult for me to believe that at least 1 in 5 people have this disease. Wherever I am I feel as though I'm the only one. Whether it be a club, a bar, a concert, a mall, or work. It makes me feel isolated. I just wish I could take that one night back. That's all I want
