Hi,

I am going to be working near Angels stadium in Anaheim. Any suggestions on nice places to live for approx. 2000 a month, 30 minute commute ideally. Girlfriend wants to live closer to water, so I suppose west and southwest of Anaheim. ( Currently living in Ri.)

I've looked at so many maps and read so many apartment ratings that I have overloaded myself with information. Ultimately, I still have no idea. I am going to Ca. in a week, hoping to narrow down locations before I show up and start driving into parts unknown.

Thank you,

I was living on the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa border when I was living there. Close to water, nice area, etc. Look hard and you can find some good places to rent. We got lucky with our apartment at the time, that was 700.00 a month, two bedroom, kitchen, etc.

Now that complex is no longer renting at that price, changed owners. But they're out there.

Newport Beach has everything in my opinion. Safe, clean, great restaurants, beach, and it has that laid back sophisticated feel. If that's your thing, I recommend there.

$2,000 will get you a two bedroom apartment within walking distance of the beach in Huntington Beach. Actually, a lot less will get you a one bedroom or two bedroom unless you need a new luxury building. Even then you are probably within target range. Morning commute might be closer to 40 minutes though because of lots of surface street driving.

Check out the Bluffs at Newport. I used to live there an loved it. They used to be pretty flexible on pricing.
Its like living in a resort. Its right off route 73, which gets you close to just about everything/

Make sure you stay on the Rivoli Side. The Campanile side is OK, and cheaper, but you will be able to hear your neighbors above you. If you decide to move to that side, get a town home.
