There is sunshine in Oregon, I lived there 5 years 1994 to 1999. Lots of "oregon drizzle", clouds, sun. Beautiful, just beautiful. Lived in Salem for 4 1/2 years and on the coast in Lincoln City for 6 months. Miss the coast soooo muchhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Yes there is sun. But only from about late June to September, if you're lucky.

Of course there is sun in Oregon, especially in the eastern half and in the Rogue River Valley. Just get used to misty days in other seasons. And it does get below freezing on occasion, with (old-days alert) high school kids firing up the smudge pots to keep the groves alive.

Default Moving to Oregon

I have been reading all of the posts to learn more about Oregon and am amazed at how many people are planning on moving to the state. We are also considering it. We are looking for friendlier people and a calmer life. We own a nursery in California and would love to keep growing plants, but would also like to grow our own veggies and fruit. We are looking at Coquille and Myrtle Point and wonder what peoples opinions are of these towns. I have seen that there is a lot of pasture land, but is there enough sun for a vegetable garden?

Default Nature and Horse trails in South West Oregon

I'm interested in moving to a "horsey" area in the Myrtle Point area. I would like to buy some land 1-5 acres that I could ride to trails from the property. I am open to all opinions about Oregon.

I don't think there are too many smudge pots used anymore, if at all. They've been replaced by heat fans.

I'm sure there is a school district to accomidate. Housing is like most other places more affordable than it was.

It would help to know what area you are contemplating, and if not known, what climate, coast or inland, Big city, small town. Why you are wanting to move here. What type of work you are in? etc...

That may help to narrow down a region.

best wishes,

freedom
