How liberal or conservative is OR
Ok here is a new question about OR, not to start any flame wars or any but I'm from Texas and want to move to Oregon why? well I think its the prettiest place I've ever seen. the thing I was wondering is how red or blue is OR, I have long hair and one thing I've all ways hated about west Texas is every one hates on me cuz I have it.
I know it might some dumb to some people but its just some thing I was wondering about. would I get just as much flake about it there as I do here.
Its not like its going to stop me from coming but I was just kinda wondering

No, you don't have to worry about it -- Oregonians aren't going to give you a problem (generally). This is the Northwest, a lot of musicians and hippies around. Most people are pretty laid back and respect people based on who they are as a person, not by the length of their hair. So grow your hair to your ass if you want and come on over.

Oregon is predominately liberal in the North, and predominately conservative in the South.
Not sure what long hair has to do with politics, but there are plenty of people who wear their hair long. I personally like to see it washed and brushed, but some people are into not doing that, not sure where they work, maybe at fairs and arts and craft. Some are in food service, I don't eat at those places.
Come to Oregon and be well.

Many Oregonians view "Red or Blue" as a stupid media simplification.
It is astonishing that anyone in Texas would care how long your hair is.
However, in Oregon you may have trouble finding a job, depending on your career choice. Pinheads normally have to remove most of their piercings before an employer will let them out in public.

Male country and western stars have had long hair for decades, and they love them in West Texas. There must be some other reason why they hate you.
Moving might not solve your problem.

About the long hair nobody is really going to care about that. It was mention though that in some employment positions that could be a problem.
A lot of eastern Oregon and the far southern part of the state is more conservative. Places like Eugene and Portland are very liberal.

I wanto move to Oregon for the trees the land the rain I love rain, I am just trying to get a feel for every thing upthere and hope I can afford to live there being a truck driver And seeing how a small house there goes for 300 grand might not be easy but come hell or high water I'm going to get there some how. just need to fine out what what little town has a pretty good job market

Nomad, you can find a little house for way less than 300k. Some even below 200k right now anyway.
New ones in a tract are $259k in G.P. (though we don't get a whole lot of rain compared to other areas). There is an area outside of Portland about 45 min. called Vernonia, a guy that use to frame for me moved up there to build and the homes there are in the low 200's as well.
Older homes (fixers) can be found for less than 200k. So what I am saying is don't get discouraged, there's a place for you.
