I can imagine, not cheap by any means. In many cities they've done this time and time again, Cezar Chavez,MLK,Nancy Pelosi and the list goes on and on. Seems to me this is just like all the statues erected to Zeus and other Olympus residents.

The residents around SE 39th Av in Portland still often refer to it as SE 39th AV rather than Cesar Chavez Blvd. It has no business calling itself a Blvd. Why a boulevard? The citizens were never asked if they wanted their street renamed. Streets with names are supposed to run east and west. Streets with numbers run north and south. 39th was an avenue with a number. Now it's a boulevard and has a name. So confusing. And unnecessary. Residents and businesses not pleased. Bulldozer political tactics. No concern over the average working person's concerns. Just the opposite of what Chavez stood for.
