Tillamook County Redneck
This is an oldy. Tillamook County is famous for its dairy industry.
TILLAMOOK COUNTY REDNECK
You know you're from Tillamook County when
1. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway.
2. "Vacation" means going to Seaside for the weekend.
3. You measure distance in hours.
4. You know several people who have hit deer more than once.
5. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
6. You use a down comforter in the summer.
7. Your grandparents drive at 65 mph through 100mph southwester without flinching
8. You see people wearing hunting clothes at social events.
9. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
10. You think of the major food groups as elk meat, beer, fish, and TILLAMOOK cheese.
11. You carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them.
12. There are 7 empty cars running in the parking lot at the Freddies store at any given time.
13. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a rain coat
14. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with mud.
15. You think sexy lingerie is tube socks and flannel pajamas.
16. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, & construction.
17. It takes you 3 hours to go to the store for one item even when you're in a rush because you have to stop and talk to everyone in town.
18. You actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your friends from Tillamook County.

Funny stuff Larry, and I did understand them. I have been to Tillamook several times although not lately. It's a good place to go for a weekend away. The Cheese Factory is always a good place for a visit. There's yummy stuff there.
I've been there in winter and boy does it get wet there. I do like the place & enjoyed my visits there.

I almost hate to say it, but you know you are there when you can't find one good place to eat.
Tillamook has been the worst place for us - even the recommendations. Never found one place yet.
We eat burgers or whatever at the Tillamook Cheese factory. Its pretty decent.
Aside from that, I'm almost scared to try anywhere else there anymore.
Anybody ever found a good culinary place there that you can vouch for

Catch a couple coho. Clean them on the boat and put them on ice immediately. When you get back to shore, stuff the cavity with lemon slices, tomato slices, fresh rosemary and a couple pats of butter. Wrap them tightly in aluminum foil. Put them in a not-too-hot portion of a beach fire (mostly hot ashes and a few coals) for about 45 minutes. You can do the same with some baking potatoes, if you wish. Serve with dry reisling. Discard the seasonings in the cavity, they were just there to flavor the fish.
My wife and I rate restaurants as pretty good if they cook better than we can. I have never found one, or even heard of one, in Tillamook.

I wish I was a fisherman. Have two small poles but never seem to get around to it.
Seriously though, if anybody ever finds a great Tillamook restaurant - post the name.

Try Roseanna's in Oceanside. Just six miles west of Tillamook.
