My family is relocating to Salem Oregon in late August. I am trying to find a nice 3-4 bedroom family friendly rental house in the West Salem area??? At least that is what has been recomended to me. My husbnand will be traveling to Portland, Salem and Albany for work so I was told Salem is in the middle and has a nice small town feel. Can anyone verify this? I would like to find a fairly new home or a refurbished older home with a modern kitchen, nice yard somewhere around 1200-1400 per month. We have two teenage daughters ages 13 and 16. we also have one 22 in college, but she is not with us much, the 4th bedroom would be for her or guests. A den or office would be suitable instead of a 4th bedroom. Let me know if you can help, I also heard Silverton was a great area!

The Willamette bridges will add half an hour to your husband's commute to Portland or Albany. You should be able to find what you are looking for in South Salem, near the Kuebler interchange to I-5. If your husband is going to spend more time in Portland, check out Keizer or Silverton.

Keizer is probably the most central spot for where your husband will be commuting to. I grew up there and would recommend it, as well as McNary High School.
I would definitely avoid West Salem--it would be a real pain to get to I-5. For your daughters' sake, I would avoid any house that feeds to North Salem or McKay high school. 4 Bedroom houses might be hard to find as rentals, but you can always monitor craigslist for if something comes up. |
