Anyone out there know what the leash laws are for dog owners in Coos Bay/North Bend Oregon. I have searched the web and found very basic stuff for the state but not specific to Coos County or Coos bay and North Bend, Oregon.

If anyone has good information on what the laws are I would appreciate any info you could offer.

I know that dogs around town must be on a leash unless they are in your own fenced yard.

I imagine Coos County is the same as Douglas County. State law rules. If you value your dog, keep it with you or keep it home. Rural areas are prone to dog dumping, and sometimes those dogs become a real hazard to wildlife and livestock. In my neighborhood, if we can catch the dog, we give it a free ride to the pound. If we can't catch the dog, we have to shoot it, even though we would much rather be shooting the dog owner.

In towns, the "free ride to the pound" has become a popular solution to free running dogs. It costs the dog owner $50 to bail their dog out, if they even bother. People who let their dogs run loose often view them as disposable.

Aside from keeping your dog on the leash when aren't on private property, is there anything else you want to know? There was talk of opening a dog-park in Coos Bay but I don't know if that is still going to happen or not. I own dogs and live in North Bend...

Maybe they need to know how many dogs they are allowed to own on their property? Each county is different.

Dogs on the beach are required to be leashed. In the city the same. The city does enforce leash laws.

We have lived in Rockaway Beach and over the years went to lots of Oregon beaches and we never hsve our dog on the leash and most dogs aren't. And police never said anything. That's what so great about the Oregon coast, it is beautiful and dog friendly. Ofcourse you should have your dog under voice control.

Angry Obey The Leash Laws

I For one, do not want my sweet dog who loves all other dogs and cats, to be attacked by an aggressive loose dog on the beach. I have seen it happen on the Bandon beach, when a loose GSD attacked a golden retriever and the owner and dog were driven into dangerous waves. The woman fell, and the people with dog quickly left. I walk my dog on leash, and [b]I expect everyone to obey the leash laws.[b] [b][b]
