Cool Within 50 Miles of Salem?

Hello!

My husband and I are relocating to Junction City (we LOVED it) and my parents also want to move to Oregon.

They have to live within 50 miles of Salem because of their Kaiser health insurance.

What cities can you recommend?

I prefer something south of Salem so they're also close/ish to us.

Their preferred price for a house is $215,000 tops. My mom wants something nice -- 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, newer/modern -- not a fixer upper, for sure (she's very picky). They have a small dog so need some background -- but they are also retired so nothing too big that they have to upkeep. They are homebodies so don't need a lot to do but don't want to live where there's nothing either.

Tall order?

Thanks for any help!

That's a snap. Junction City isn't much more than 50 miles from Salem. Anything up 99E, 99W or I-5 toward Salem would be fine. Go shopping. You have Monroe, Greenberry, Corvallis, West Albany, Independence, Monmouth, Rickreall, Dallas, Suver, Shedd, Adair Village, Jefferson, Marion, Sunnyside and Millersburg, just to name a few places. Get a compass, draw a 50 mile circle around Salem, and that's your target area.

The only cities between Junction City and Salem are Corvallis and Albany. The rest of them range from small towns to bumps in the road. If your parents want police and ambulance service, Albany or Corvallis are about it. In Albany, they should shop southwest (upwind) of Kraft Paper.

Check out Albany. There are a couple of new construction neighborhoods where you can get a nice 1500 sq ft home for about 205,000; (Jefferson too has some new neighborhoods being built by local builders with reasonable pricing).

Give me a holler for additional info...

Silverton (9000) is wonderful. Dallas (15000) and Monmouth (9400) are quaint communities as is Independence (8000). Albany (47000) is also nice and so is Corvallis (55000). Stayton (8000) and Sublimity (2300) are wonderful little communities, too.

Look on Trulia - Real Estate, Homes For Sale, Sold Properties, Real Estate Maps and you can get a lot of information about homes for sale. Then on the map, click ariel and you can see a skyview of the area.
