the only people i know from coos bay are EXTREMELY conservative. anywhere outside the big cities seems to be that way here.

Thats too bad because I really like that town. Conservatism makes me feel gross.

you might like it anyway, hard to say. for me the problem usually comes up in employment. and no matter where i go, i seem to end up working with and for very conservative people. i had no idea that oregon had a "red zone" until i moved here. thought it was mostly all blue!

"I meant conservative as in modesty and old-fashioned values" Hate to say it, but some of the folks above are not far off.... you want somewhere where only a handful of people own everything that the eye can see. Many folks like this in central and Eastern Oregon.
New ideas, new ways, new anything is a threat to these folks.....

You can have the conservative lifestyle you speak of in Oregon.

Bring your own money. Rural Oregon can be a lot like Texas only wetter. Smaller towns will always have the same drawbacks anywhere in the nation. Close knit social ties with economic opportunities going to someone who knows someone. Just go in with eyes open.
